returning things because they are onsale

Some people return things that they have previously bought just because it is onsale, or go back just to get the price difference. So yes it is more money in your pocket, but is it worth the trouble? and do you think it's ethical and appropriate?

Yes, I would. As long as the $ amount is worth the effort. I once bought a columbia jacket at Sears, got home looked at the flyer and found out it was going to be on sale 40% the next day!!!!! I took the coat and receipt back the next morning to get the difference back.
It would never be worth it to bring back a product for a few pennies...but us SC should never buy anything not on sale so we will never have that problem LOL

I agree with that, but I know that I have seen people in the past do it over maybe $10 in grocery items, yes it is $5-10 but I think that those are things that I wouldn't make a big deal about. Definitely clothes and toys and expensive things can you can save a lot like that. I am just curious about people's opinions

Bought DS a foosball table for Christmas at CT for 257.00. The next day the flyer came out and it was $100 less . I took the flyer and my receipt for the $100 refuns.

I voted that it totally depends what it is. For a big item with a big price difference, for sure. For a smaller amount, no - not with the cost of gas and my valuable time.

It depends on if it's worth the time and effort to return it. If I bought a new TV for $699 and in 1 week it went on sale for $499 you can bet I'd go back for my price difference! However, some stores you don't even have to return the item itself because their policy is such that you just have to show your reciept (walmart is one of them) But if it was something for a few dollars difference I wouldn't.

Ofcourse I would ask for a price adjustment!
Zellers tried refusing me once because I had price matched it.
So I said fine, I'd return it then and go buy another one of the shelf. They ended up just giving me the difference back.

Even if it was just a few dollars I would probably do it. I wouldn't go out of my way but if I was going to that store anyways I would do it.

It depends. I would do it for a few bucks if I was going back to the store. I don't know that I would go out of my way to go back. It also is store dependant. If it's a store that I know it will be a huge production and raise my blood pressure it really has to be worth it.

I also voted for it depends. If I am near the store and it's a decent amount then yes I would ask for a price adjustment. But otherwise, probably not.

It is completely ethical. I just ask for the difference. It also depends on what was purchased and the length of time from when I bought it to when it want on sale. I would say one maybe two weeks max.

I dont think its wrong to do.. i dont do it very often though but mostly because im lazy. but i mean, if its a big difference in price, id be all over it for sure!

same here i think it really depends on how much i can save on the item most stores around me are a little far so i have to factor in the cost of gas sometimes it's just not worth it

I totally agree with Natalka, it all depends what it is and what the amount is.
I have never got a price adjustment on food. But have on clothes and big stuff. Last year we bought an espresso machine and the next day it went on sale for $30 less then what I paid. In that case I sure did go back and get my money!
