So I finally ventured to Costco with my sister & parents just to look around (yeah right, lol) and left the little kiddies at home with their daddy and decided to list a couple of things that I noticed are cheaper at Costco compared to grocery stores or just items that I think are a good buy.

    Milk (2l) $3.04
    Milk (bags) $5.87
    Spinach (454g bag) $2.99
Egg Whites (3 cartons) $4.99 vs $2.69 each at the grocery stores

Their bags of greens (mixed greens, spinach, etc...) seem to be pretty cheap at $2.99 a bag/container.

Right now until tomorrow (I think) they have a deal:
~Their own brand of pop $4.99 (or was it $5.99 ) 24 cans BOGO !!!
~Majesta 24 dbls $13.59 (not so much a great deal) but you get FREE Majesta tissue (8 boxes)
~Big jug of Salsa for $6.59 and get two bags of chips/tacos free (Large bags)

I was just thinking that if any of us go to Costco and we see any good deals for their bulk items vs single item at SS/WM/etc... we should post it and it'll help us when we go to Costco so that we ALL don't have to price compare, lol....

I don't have a membership yet so right now the only time I'll be going is with my sister or my parents so it probably won't be often but I'll post any deals I see.

I haven't been there yet. I'm wondering about their price on diapers? I generally get them for about $0.20 each for pampers - combining a sale with a coupon every time.

I priced up their diapers there and I found that we can get them cheaper at the regular stores since we use coupons. On their signs they tell you how much it is per diaper and the only ones I found under .20 were their own brand and in size 1-2.

My dad was in the other day and said that their cooked chickens were $6.99 or $7.99... he couldn't remember which. Either way, it's cheaper than Superstore or Sobey's!

They are great too, had one the other night, and they are bigger than the ones at Sobey's and Superstore.

Their great price on propane has put me over the top. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and get a membership!

That's crazy!! For the most part I'm skeptical about some of the deals at Costco but there really are some that make it worth it!!

    Everyday deals at Costco

    Sun-Maid Raisins (2kg) 7.99 (1/2kg is 5.99 at SS!!!)
Ocean Spray Craisins 1.1kg 8.99 (10.99 at SS)
    Prego (2 1 litre containers) 8.00 ($5.49 for 1 litre at SS)
    Button Mushrooms (huge container) 3.99
    Portabello Mushrooms (large package) 3.99
Romaine Lettuce (5 per pack) 4.99 (? it was 4 something)
Sandwich meats - some really good prices on high quality ham (24% meat protein)
    Hellavu Good Dip (950ml) 5.99 (between 2.49-2.99 for 250ml)

I brought a calcuator with me to do some unit prices and found that like most places, some things you can do amazingly well - other things are about the same as a sale+a coupon.

For example, they had 6 cans of carnation evap milk for 8.99. Right now at SS you can get them for 3/$4 plus use your save $1 WUB3 to make them $1 a can or 3/$3.
Also, they had Almers Tomatoes on for 10.99 for 8 cans. These are on sale for .99 each at SDM right now but are on an end aisle at Costco so appear to be a great deal to the untrained eye.

My theory is that if you never pick up a flyer, Costco probably is a good place for one stop shopping. However, if you know your prices and are comfortable spending small amounts of money at a bunch of different stores, Costco is a great addition to your shopping route.

haha I brought a calculator with me too!!! I think most couponers/SCers would bring a calculator to work out the cost per normal size,lol....I agree that some things are just not a great deal when we can wait until smaller versions go on sale and use coupons However to those it may seem like a great deal. The only way I could see paying a higher price would be if we only grocery shopped once a month and wanted to do all the shopping at one place.

A good deal though they do have would be the Night Out at EMPIRE THEATRES for $24.99 + tax you get two passes, two popcorn and two pop. It really isn't the greatest deal if you can go on a Tuesday night for $5.99 however if you are planning a "date night" say on a Friday or Saturday night then it's completely worth it since it costs $11.50 per ticket. They also have a kids version for $9.99 (pass and kid's pack).
