For the gluten-free flour mix, I didn't look up their reference. I used our typical mix, which was 3/4 c. white rice flour, 1/2 c. potato starch and 1/4 c. tapioca flour.

I'm really happy with how it turned out...so thought I would pass it along!
So for me to substitute flour I need a mix of rice flour, potato starch and tapioca flour? Or that is your typical mix? Thanks :D

I just made Quinoa-veggie burgers from Chatelaine's July issue and they were awesome. I placed them on El Peto Brown Rice Burger Buns with a slice of tomatoes and a tablespoon of Ranch Dressing. Definitely would recommend this recipe: http://food.chatelaine.com/recipes/v...ger/28226?DFIX

I don't need to eat GF but I am vegetarian with food allergies so I appreciate this thread. Have checked out some links and copies some recipes which I'm lookign forward to trying. I just discovered the thread via the SC blog, so have many pages to go through yet

For those who use potato starch, I want to suggest you check out your local Asian grocery store. I picked up a 1 lb (454g) bag for $1.69 at mine and have since noticed it costs 2- 3x as much in/on specialy stores and websites. Well.ca has it as 250g for $5.75.

For anyone Downeast there is a great website Downeastceliacs.com and in the Dine and shop there is a list of places to eat in the Maritimes. I noticed that Giant Tiger now has Rice Chex for $3.97, don't know if they carry Honeynut Chex as well.

I have notice a lot more gluten free products out there lately. I have been celiac for about 16 years now, and I remember it used to be so hard to find stuff, so I had to make everything from scratch. What was available was so very expensive. Then I started bringing a lot of stuff back with us every spring from the states. Now I find it everywhere. I am still waiting for the gluten free bisquick to come up here. It's a staple in my house now, so quick to make some cheddar bay biskets, or some awsome pancakes either plain, or by adding fruit to them. I am really glad to see the prices have come down a lot too.

Not sure if there are many of you that are newly diagnosed (by biopsy) Celiac's, but if there are, be sure to save all your receipts as you can get a substancial refund from revenue canada when you do your taxes.

Well I called Kraft to see if the cheese pouches in the KD were GF and ...YES!!!!!!!!!!!! So I had a lil pasta and kid cheese sauce a few days ago and IT WAS SO GOOD lol

Why KD doesn't create a gf box of KD is beyond me they would make a killing!
