    2 c water - divided
    1 1/2 cups sugar
    6 drops red food colouring
    3 level Tbsp cornstarch
    3 oz package strawberry jello

    fresh strawberries, sliced
    2 baked 9" pie shells

Mix 1 cup water with sugar in saucepan. Add food colouring, and bring to a boil.
In a cup, mix cornstarch with 1 cup water, then add to sugar mixture in pan; whisk together and cook until thickened.
Remove pan from heat; add jello powder and mix well.
    Let cool.

Place strawberries in pie shell, pour syrup over. Refrigerate.
    Can serve with whipped cream.
    --------

Also works really well with baked tart shells! I use the piecrust tartshells instead of sweetened ones.
