i used to have the car during the day. i'd drop my daughter off at achool and go, be there at 8:45, get my shopping done and go home. i'd make a couple of trips a week.

now i only have the car in the evenings or on sundays. sunday used to be our family day to just enjoy the day and do whatever activity we wanted.
now i have to make sunday my shopping day because taking my son in the evening is terrible, he's cranky and ends up crying half the time.

i don't get to do my resourceful deal shopping either when i have the car limited times. too bad :/

i'd say the perfect time to do peaceful shopping is weekday mornings.
if you can't do that, then sunday when the stores open isn't too bad either

My grocery shopping timing has always been relative to garbage pick-up: On the night before garbage pick-up I clean out the fridge, so the next day is grocery shopping day for replenishment.

Sadly, garbage pick-up is Saturday, so this means grocery shopping on Friday night or Saturday morning. Usually it is Saturday mornings, but I find that if I arrive no later than 9am, the crowds aren't there yet.

My fave would be early Monday mornings as that is when you get their clearance meat products. I laugh as I would walk away from my mom when he put an item marked down in the cart. However when chicken is averaging $7/lb and Ground Beef $5/lb I can understand. I cannot do clearance fruit or bread yet ha.

Anyways my 2nd choice is Sunday morning when they just open. It's quiet and Rachel is just perfect.

My shopping habits are sporadic, and I don't normally buy much at a time, and I don't pay much attention to sales, and I don't eat meat or bread products (so getting early to grab reduced on these doesn't really appeal to me), BUT having been a cashier at a grocery store, your best bet is 8am-10am, honestly, it's dead. Whenever I had these shifts, I honestly would be half asleep at my till, maybe serve 2 customers, go on my first break around 9:30, then be awake for when it gets busier.

The *only* problem with shopping veeerrry early or verrry late, is that HO says that we only need 2-3 cashiers on, so if it gets busy, expect there to be long lines.

I shop on the weekends, usually Saturdays and early enough in the morning before the psycho minivan-driving moms hit the streets/stores dragging their screaming monster kids along with them. It's usually fine before 10am. I avoid week nights after work because it is chaos and definitely never on a weekend afternoon.

I usually go once a week at which time I do my price matching/coupons, sales, take my time, etc... for the most part it's usually Sunday afternoon sometime...

BUT, since I'm just recently on my own, don't have all the "staples" yet... don't always think of everything, I usually find myself at the grocery store at least 2-3 other times during the week buying a few things...

    I'm getting better though...

This week my flyers didn't even come so I can't go and price match...

But then I thought, "blessing in disguise", because I have enough food here I don't need to shop for a week at least, so I will save myself some money I guess!

    cheers

Saturday at 7am twice a month at RCSS for my "bigger" grocery trips.

During my lunch breaks at work to pick up smaller things at WM, LD, etc.

I work nights at the grocery store so it's a blessing to be able to shop first thing in the morning before going home, but it's a curse too as it's too convenient to buy more than you need throughout the week.
