Funny story... a little background.... I send a lot of my mail to my parents house, lots of reasons, I'm changing apartments soon, my name isn't on the buzzer so things are hard to deliver. My mom is soooooo bad about opening any mail I get! Especially since I started getting a lot of great coupons and freebies. My mom just evasively tells me that I got some mail, but when questions she finally admits she opened it. All my mail gets "accidentally" opened. My mom will also take any excuse to open my mail. When I have big packages arrive, she'll mention them to me casually, I'll wonder what they are, and then she jumps at that comment and say "Ok I'll open it then!" I say I want to be surprised later, and she'll beg to open it or reveal she already "accidentally" opened it.
So I call my mom today and ask "so, anything come in the mail for me lately?"
Mom: "Hmmm, I think so." *pause* "Yeah. You got some package."
Janet: "Ooooh, where was it from, any idea what it was?"
Mom: "I don't know. Might be a USB drive"
Janet: "Well that's pretty specific. What made you guess that? Did you open it?"
Mom: *guiltily* "I was just so curious!"
So apparently my Chapmans USB drive arrived! YAY! I got lucky with the timing on ordering that!
It's usually out of stock. That's the first thing I've ever ordered from Chapmans.
And yes..... obviously I don't mind my mommy opening my mail or I would have stopped sending things there. It's just a family joke how horrible she is about opening mail.Earn Amazon Gift Cards just by using this search engine instead of your regular one...

Thats not Chapmans fault its Canada Post fault. It most likely got stuck in the sorting machine. Why complain when its free anyways.

funny my mom opens and reads all my mail too..she tells me I swear it said my name on it and I was like yeah right like your name starts with a "L". I told her thats a crime to tamper with others mail but occasionally I find things that are already pre-opened with a note attached saying she didn't mean to. I think I might by her a Magnifying glass for her Bday it comes before Christmas...
I totally got a kick out of it when I read it...she came in to where I was sitting to search through all my freebies that I got yesterday and was like "so what did you get?"
Did ya ever happen to tell her she could order her own freebies?Live, Love, Laugh

Yes but it's also Chapman's fault.
They should take more steps to ensure these gifts/prizes are going to arrive in one piece.. IE putting extra padding in for pointed objects like pens.. or calculators etc.. lol..
Sure it costs a little more for an envelope with that bubble wrap padding on the inside but it'll prevent accidents from happening and angry customers.
Every package I get from Chapmans [that comes in the larger brown envelope] isn't sealed properly. I get it and my sisters mother [post master] has taped it shut for me [privacy issues. she says she's seeing it alot lately with other chapman mail being sent in the area]
Anywho... a better envelope and care so that the prize actually gets to the winner in one piece will prevent more money loss.. Granted these are free.. but sending out another replacement still is one less going to another person... =/
My calculator was cracked and didnt work properly; I got an email last week that they were sending out a replacement =) so chapmans seems very good about replacing things.
I think everytime this happens you should take pictures of what has happened than call chapmans or send them an email [granted it'll take a few tries to get someone to reply]. Hopefully all the complaints will show them that they should invest in better envelopes

I have never had a problem with anything being shipped to me from Chapmans or anyone else for that matter. My parent and my sister have Chapmans delivered to them without any problems. Yes it is also the responsibility of the company but its free. Too many complaints may cause them to shut down their free stuff policy all together. I would have a chat with your Canada Post outlet and see if things change. Maybe you just need to tell your mail carrier about Chapmans kids club site and you will get better packages
