Maytag Jenn-Air Amana Admiral Crosley Magic Chef Performa Refrigerators Recall

This recall is being conducted by Maytag Corporation in voluntary cooperation with Health Canada and includes certain Maytag®, Jenn-Air®, Amana®, Admiral®, Magic Chef®, Performa by Maytag® and Crosley® brand side-by-side and top freezer refrigerators. The affected refrigerators were manufactured in black, bisque, white and stainless steel.

Two incidents and no injuries have been reported in Canada. Outside of Canada, Maytag has received 41 reports of refrigerator relay ignition, including 16 reports of property damage ranging from smoke damage to extensive kitchen damage.

Corrective Action
Consumers should immediately contact Maytag to determine if their refrigerator is included in the recall and to schedule a free in-home repair. Consumers should not return the refrigerator to the retailer where it was purchased.

Serial numbers involved are on the website, as is toll free number.

Number Sold
Approximately 193,500 units were sold at department and appliance stores and by homebuilders in Canada.

Time Period Sold
The recalled products were sold from January 2001 through January 2004.

my fridge was listed in there,but thankfully last year it was replaced because it had stopped working properly

Well, our fridge is on there. We're in a rental, so will have to talk to the landlord about it.

Recently I came to know that there is a website named http://www.amazingwatcher.com which is a free website that will “watch” items for you on Amazon and let you know when amazon has them in stock at regular retail price.It got so awesome!
