this morning i woke up not feeling to good and very grouchy... but i signed on to here and the first post i read was of lites&sirens911 massive donation... which got me thinking, my current place where i have my stash is getting rather full... so i used 411 online and contacted a local place that helps out the womens shelter and asked if they were still accepting donations for christmas... and they were

so i get tons of bags and start going thru my stash room... and come out with
30 x toothbrushes
23 x life brand lotion/ body wash
8 x pro health toothpaste
2 x dove bar soap
2 x dove go fresh body spray
3 x dove lotion
5 x eyeliner
2 x kids toothpaste
3 x kotex pads
2 x kotex purse packs
3 x tampax
6 x noticables
3x sense and spray
2 x air effects
2x airwick spray
5 x vim
2 x pledge
3 x bic razors
2 x venus razors
6 x satin care
4 x sunlight green clean
4 x fantastik
4 x sb bathroom
10 x glade candles
which total cost me under $70, but is worth over $600
i bag it all up, cram it all on my poor stroller (i don`t drive) and off me and my son go to donate... we catch the bus and people are asking why i have so much stuff with me, and i was like i am going to go donate this, as i get off the bus i give a gift to the bus driver (she is one of the nicest ones, it was a glade soy 3 wick candle, a glade tin, and a glade glass candle stacked in a mini tower wrapped in cellophane and ribboned) she was shocked.
i wish i had taken a pic to show just how crammed the stroller was, i couldn`t even fit it all in/ on the stroller, i had to put some in a back pack i wore... so i get there and the lady at first thinks i am there to donate some clothes (the drop off for the womens shelter is out of a thrift store) then she see me start to unload and is like ur that lady i was talking to on the phone... i was like where do you want all of this? she was like is that all for the womens shelter? i was like yup, and my son pipes up and says merry merry merry (his 2 y/o way of saying merry christmas)
the lady starts to cry, she was in shock, she was like how can you afford to do this? i was like i have many great friends online who taught me the art of couponing, so i got her all interested in it and gave her this site addy, as well as save.ca and such.
she was like, you know what, many many young people these days wouldn't do this... she said i was the youngest person in there to donate (and she thought i was 30, i am 22) when i told her that she was like wow you have been taught be an amazing person to be doing this... and she started to cry all over again, at that point i had her a gift for herself (exactly like the bus drivers one) and she hugs me, and insists i give her my name and phone number so the womens shelter can call me directly to thank me...
so thank you lites&sirens911 for making my day a heck of a lot better... i woke up feeling like the grinch and read ur post and spread some christmas spirit, and hopefully taught my kid a thing or 2 about giving
plus b.c i gave a $ donation to some firefighters we were told we can drop by the fire station sunday mornings for a mini tour of it, my son was all about the fire truck that was flashing lights in front of the store (no fire) so if we can get up early enough to do it we get to spend the morning/ afternoon doing that tomorrow (and possibly spread some x-mas cheer for our life saving friends)This thread is currently associated with: Air Wick, Save.ca CouponsLast edited by lady_arianna; Sat, Dec 12th, 2009 at 08:12 PM. Oh Shirley, I think that we need to go get more before Christmas, since now my niks and crannies and shelves are all almost bare! Thanks so much for donating to the women's shelter, I was going to save them a bit and call them this week, maybe you can tell me where to drop it off then...If you want we can get together this week maybe Wednesday after work or Monday afternoon and go get a few things, I still want to get some more soap , Toilet paper and Hasbro games to donate as well...
Call me tomorrow!
Way to go, I am proud of your generosity!

Imagine if we all donated just a little "bit" of what we have stashed.
