I dont find a dishwasher actually helps, you still need to rinse dishes before putting them in it so it doesnt save water and you end up leaving them with food on them growing germs even longer which the dishwasher then throws onto all the other dishes

That must be an asian thing. Now that I think of it, none of my asian friends have dishwashers either and one's actually said that exact same thing to me.
Landlord's Vietnamese (same last name as yours, hence my knowing
) and when I asked her if I could install a dishwasher, she was very adamant about why it wasn't a good idea LOL
I let it go

Unless you use it daily, it doesn't really help, you're right. The dishes are in there for too long. My old place had a DW, we ran it half full because we'd run out of dishes before it was full enough to make it wortj while. I'd basically use it after a dinner party
