Just a reminder.
I trade on a few different sites, including this one and recently have come across some save.ca coups that were laser printed/copied.
i brought them to no frills last night and they would not take them. i never noticed till she pointed it out to me. she was told by her manager to really check them over because people are copying them- both sides. so they look real but they were not.
you can tell because when comparing them to the real versions, they are less colorful, the bar code on the real one is slightly raised and you can feel it. and, the numbers on the real one are raised so when you slant it at a light, you can see the raised points. you can see teh ink texture.
so please, unless you get these coupons directly from save.ca, check them before you trade them. and if you are copying these coupons, DONT trade them please. this is stealing. and when you trade them, you are putting stolen goods into someone elses hands. i feel ripped off that i cant use some of them and some i paid for in gift cards.
like i said, not pointing fingers. i just went over my whole stash and found a few. i have no idea where they came from. just be on the watch. This thread is currently associated with: No Frills, Save.ca Couponsif at first you don't succeed, do it the way your wife told you...

My closest WM SC asked me not to leave my spare Save.ca coupons on the shelf during my rounds last week. Not because they don't want to honour them - but because of the "scanned coupons issue". The dept CSM did not want my account number being "hacked". I am guessing Save.ca has alerted retailers about this exact issue. So sad when coupon use goes bad

Coupons are a way of life for my family (heck, my 3 year old knows about watching for sale signs, the SCOP and even checks my coupon folder to see if we can "save more"). Let's hope a few bad apples don't ruin it for everyone. The Bird Nest...

That's terrible! :-( I can't believe people would do that! What product were they for?
I hope the staff at the store believed you when you told them you received the coupons in a trade! How awful!

Oh how pathetic!!! This is fraud / form of counterfeiting. Gee, it would be great to catch this idiot in the act and have charges laid against this person.
Thanks for the heads up.

You mention that you can get as many as you want as is.. just wondering because I see the links to different save.ca coupons here on SC and when I click on one it tells me either wrong province or I can't order more yet. There isn't something that I'm missing is there? You can only get them every so many days right?
I think this is terrible. I wouldn't bother taking the time to even trying to figure out how to copy them. Although I noticed that my last batch from save.ca the back dotted lines didn't line up with the front of the coupon.

actually, in some cases, the cut out line dont actually match up on the real ones....lol. makes you wonder why they even bother?
i really went through my stash and it was from older trades. they were expiring soon. so i think they were from trades in 09.
the cashier believed me...(phew). and she took the time to show me how to spot the fake ones. and my sdm told me that they were gonna stop taking them entirely due to fake ones.
holy crap eh?if at first you don't succeed, do it the way your wife told you...

Wow, this is really sad. Now I know people are trying to scam the system. Recently I went to my local Zellers store and right at every cash register is a print out of all coupons which they are not to be accepted. I asked what were those and the cashier told me people are making there own fake coupons or using expired coupons and making new expiry dates. The ones I saw were of ice cream, razors, and shaving cream but there was more. Didn't get a good look though but look like high value ones. I am very upset because this will ruin us from using legit coupons. Honestly, I don't believe this is necessary. There are so many amazing coupons out there that there is no need for people to make FAKE coupons or reproduce them. WHY? Some people have to eat and coupons help put food on our table. People who take legit coupons and alter them need to stop!

i didnt even think of that! thats crazy though.
and in know what you mean about coupons being a way of life....me too! i just hope the fraud stops and save.ca keeps making them. there are some that i really rely on. specifically the Majesta (who doesnt love that one?..lol), the garnier hair care (practically free on sale), garnier hair dye (almost free), tylenol (almost free), reach (free), pantene, olay.
some of this stuff i would never buy full price, like olay facial stuff. i would just do without...lol. so using coupons allows me to have nice products and have groceries on hand.
i cant use "printable" coupons as it is in half the stores in Barrie. they wont take them!if at first you don't succeed, do it the way your wife told you...

Arrghhh! this makes me so mad! What is wrong with some people? I mean, order the coupons for FREE. If you need more, ask a friend if you can use their address or come online & trade for them. What a frickin' moron!
