I'm planning to buy a netbook from Future Shop (or Best Buy) and give it to someone as a gift for Christmas.
I looked on the flyers and I see that the price will be way lower on Boxing Day . The netbook price is 299+tx now and it will be 199+tx on Boxing Day (at Future Shop).
Can I buy the netbook now and on Boxing Day go to the store and ask for price match ?
I asked in the store and one sales agent told that yes, I can do that. But other agent, from a different FS store told me that I cannot do that.
    Thanks!

I was told yesterday at Staples, SDM, and future shop that they will not price match here on Boxing day. Too bad I had to buy 3 gifts and I could have saved up to $80.00 bucks on Boxing day

Price matching can be difficult at the big box stores on Boxing Day because it often excludes limited quantity items, special offers, etc. That's how they get people. You could always buy now, and then return it if the price drops and buy it for the lower price. But seems like a lot of work.

Well I'm sure the price will drop. I'm planning to buy exactly the same netbook model (I checked the Boxing Day flyer already).
I cannot really return the product (it's a gift for someone, I cannot ask that person to give it back to me etc...).

I went through this last year when i got my camera. Best Buy, Futureshop and WM will not price match on Boxing Day. I even asked the store manager from each store

That's right. There are no returns and no price match on Boxing Day.
I wish, I would do the same thing and I won't be alone for sure!

There are however many price drops and you could get a price adjustment withing 14 days of your purchase.

Most stores are putting on their flyers that there will be no price adjustments on boxing day week

    Why bother so much?
I would just go and buy it on Boxing Day, not waste my time twice...

Although I haven't personally checked with the various stores, I agree with other posters...most stores don't take returns on Boxing Day. I could see also why stores wouldn't PM on Boxing Day or during Boxing week.
I know it kind of sucks (pardon the expression) but if you really need to buy the item now to give to that person, you just have to pay the price. What makes it worst having to make the purchase now is the fact that you know it will be reduced in price in a few days and if you can't wait to make the purchase you just have to pay the price now; sadly, sucks for consumer but is great for retailers.
As CarlyinCanada mentioned, maybe give the person a GC and add a note that you have another gift they'll get after Christmas?? Depending on who you are buying for just being honest with them and telling them you won't have their gift until after the 25th should suffice??
