Baby kitty is in heat :(

Aw mayne, Baby kitty is in heat. She keeps trying to mount our male cat (who got fixed a few months ago) the poor thing is going nuts and driving us nuts.

Shes not fixed yet because our vet said to wait until February, shes spose to go in Tuesday for her declaw so Im hoping theyll just do both for us.

The poor thing is in misery.

That's odd that she would try to mount him, it's unusual... usually it's just the rolling around and howling!
Anyway, don't worry, she's not in pain or anything, it's just the cycle she's in - hopefully she won't be really loud for you! Give her an all-over rub when she gets to flipping around from side to side, that might help her a bit.
How old is she? If you wanted her spayed it should have been done before her first heat cycle, which can be as early as four months old.

oh and its ridiculous shes in heat as she such a runt that she looks like the average 3 month old kitten. Shes only 6 months.

Our vet did spaw/front declaw at the same time, so sure you can ask them, but ask beforehand. (I thought it would be easier on her to just have to go under the knife once.)

No the vet didn't want to fix her until Feb as she is very very petite for her age, shes is just under 6 months.

I know thats what my other friend said too, I asked them and they said theyd prefer to do the spay in feb so Im going to call on monday and ask again because then shed be done lol!

Usually a cat will find something to rub against... corner of a box, a chair leg, etc. Seems to 'scratch that itch'...

My vet will spay at 8 weeks / 2lbs so she should be well big enough but it is more dangerous to do any surgery esp a spay when they are in heat

^ok so Ill def call on Monday and talk to them thanks FP. I do know some vets do it when their tiny, esp human society spay/neuter but baby kitty is exceptional, shes just over 2.5 pounds, and almost 6 months so I just think they are being extra cautious. They wouldn't even do her first set of shots when I got her they made me wait (no I wasn't charged for them to postpone it)

Yes my vet's office won't do it while they are in heat either, it's too risky.
I have to take my girl in next month as well, as she drives us insane when she is in heat with her meowing...she doesn't scream at all or howl, but she rubs herself on everything including the dog who runs away from her, and DH's feet which he finds hilarious, but it drives us nuts regardless.
I can't wait to take mine in too, lol

Well figure something out, but they told us they wont do both at once.

Is it a vet you have used before? If not, I would get a second opinion. Most vets prefer to do a declaw while they are under already and not subject the cat to two sets to anaesthetic

Ive used this vet for a long time, Im not really interested in spending another $100 to bring her to another vet for another opinion, yep thats what it is here because they all rip you off and want to do their own "exam" basically just to make $100. If her shots and exams are up to date you shouldn't have to pay that IMO lol.

Yeah I know the feeling, its around the same here
Thankfully I have had enough experience not with my own cats to know which ones are good and bad here
'office visit' and 'first exam' fees are absolutely ridiculous
