I was just there last week! wow - glad I came home!!! I like my quiet little island! Heading to Whistler in June - I sure hope everything is back to it's usual relaxing atmosphere by then!!! My brother is living in a condo about a block from one of those pics ...how on earth does he even get out of the parkade??? YIKES!!!

Maybe that's who it is... I was wondering. Sorta makes sense with the "Defeat the world" thing.

I felt like laughing at anybody trying to drive in or out of downtown Vancouver today. At many places the crowds just overflowed onto the street lanes that were still supposed to be open for vehicles.

Even the Post Office had crowds for their little thing they were doing. This was one block from my apartment.

Steven Colbert is sponsoring the US womans speedskaters after one of them was on his show. He has been pretty vocal about his dislike for the way Canada is hogging the rink and not letting the americans train or something. Usually I just blow him off but he's been getting on my nerves about the Olympics.

My other half is fleeing to San Francisco for a week to get away from it all.

Olympic pin traders and ticket scalpers are everywhere. Speaking of Olympic pins, did anyone notice in the Simpsons Vancouver Olympics episode tonight that when Lisa was hitting bottom with her addiction to Olympic pin collecting that she ended up in Gastown busking and begging on the street. Then Bart did an intervention to get her off the street and rehabilitated. Those writers at the Simpsons sure do their research!

I'm not getting as much sleep as usual, which is not much. I'm still keeping up the usual pace of deal chasing and coupon collecting. I was up early Saturday and Sunday to elbow through the crowds at my neighbourhood "Olympic McDonald's" to scrounge for copies of the SmartSource coupon insert.

I think I deserve a gold medal because I still managed to get 8 copies. I'm also taking advantage of the opportunity to visit SDM and nearby supermarkets daily to snag coupons. They may not notice me so much with all the crowds.

I'll bet the artists who have their new installations on display in Vancouver are quite happy about the number of people who are seeing their work. Here's the Art Gallery (North side) today with Wei Lin's "A Modest Veil" (the giant flowery panels).
