this is a takeover, like back in the day when walmart took over woolco. as for the HBC credit and points, they shouldn't change since it is HBC and HBC isn't going anywhere, they just selling off what they purchased a few years back.

Hmm, the Zellers near me is disgusting, and looks like a health code violation....so maybe target can come and clean it up.

"The deal would see Target take over up to 220 stores from the almost 280 Zellers stores across the country.

The company's plan is to open 100 to 150 stories by 2013."

Was just googling this topic and found these stats.

I agree, but they occasionally have good sales. Their cosmetics are horribly over priced, though

I've never been to Target, because when I go to the States for personal trips, Target isn't the type of store I want to shop at. However, from friends and family that I have here and in the U.S., I know that Target has great everyday prices and amazing clearance prices and frequently clears out stock. I hope they bring this to Canada, as we typically pay much more for items here than our American counterparts. But, at the same time, I can't help but feel cynical about Target coming to Canada. While I wish they'll be the great discount retailer they are in the U.S., part of me believes they'll charge more here in Canada, because they can get away with it (and, in their right, they have the right to make as much as they can).

They have a pretty good coupon system.
Manufacture coupons & have some on their website.
But so does walmart & drugstores.
So I can't imagine Canada stores will be anywhere comparable to US Targets when it comes to coupons.

Ofcourse they will be charging more here! Probably won't carry all the same products either.
Just like walmart US prices are drastically cheaper.
DH bought a new computer at bestbuy US. The tower itself was $300 more at Bestbuy here then we paid for the entire package in the states.
Maybe because I'm on the boarder, but I'm not excited to see Target come here. Would rather keep Zellers.
