Thread: My February Freebies
-
Mon, Mar 1st, 2010, 06:38 AM #1
Well, I didn't do nearly as well as January...but hey, it was a short month...
Giveaway #7
Freebie: Brewed tea
Value: $1.84
Source: Starbucks. February 4th and 5th only, everyone with a registered card is entitled to a choice of a free brewed tea. Chose the vanilla rooibos--not bad!
Giveaway #8
Freebie: Brewed tea
Value: $1.84
Source: Starbucks. February 4th and 5th only, everyone with a registered card is entitled to a choice of a free brewed tea. This time, went with the "China Green Tips". Nice (but liked yesterday's vanilla rooibos better!)
Giveaway #9
Freebie: A 30-day subscription the The National Post (delivery, pubslishes Mon. - Sat.)
Value: $20.48 (price for a 1-month subscription as per the National Post website).
Source: Sponsored by "Aryana Wireless" (I found the link to order this free subscription on www.smartcanucks.ca and have no idea who/what "Aryana Wireless" is--but will enjoy my free newspaper).
Sample #1:
Freebie: A 51 gram (single serving) box of Kashi "Toasted Berry Crisp" cereal.
Value: Given that a full-size (369 gram) box goes for up to $6.99 (Loblaws, Metro), giving this a value of $1.00
Source: There was a "Free Cereal" link on the Kashi website. I filled-out an online sample request, and the box came in the mail within a couple of weeks. NOTE: I just checked, and the site still appears to be active (but hurry--it's "while supplies last")! https://www.allkpass.ca/kashi/freecereal/default.aspx
Sample #2:
Freebie: A pack of "Cultured Care" probiotic gum (contains 8 pieces of gum). Organic, sugar-free, all natural, with 500 million probiotic healthy bacteria in each one--purported to protect the mouth and throat from infection, and prevent gum disease, gingivitis, and bad breath.
Value: $6.88 (found at Canadian Vitamin Shop).
Source: The product's website was offering a free pack of their new probiotic gum to the first 1,000 to "Tweet" about them on Twitter. It arrived in the mail last week. Note: This promotion is STILL ON, until March 31st! http://culturedcare.com/freegum/
Giveaway #10
Freebie: A "Vancouver 2010 Olympics" stainless steel/thermal travel mug.
Value: $14.99
Source: Cineplex Entertainment/Far Coast (coffee shop). There was an online coupon for a free travel mug upon purchase of 2 cappuccino-based beverages from Far Coast cafe (affiliated with Cineplex)--in addition to the coupon, you had to show a valid Scene card. I was alone at the time, and they gave me the mug with only one beverage purchase (obviously I chose the cheapest one--the Americano, for $2.45). The stainless steal/thermal mug is really nice--I've already started using it! Note: This promotion is still going on until February 28 (or while supplies last) at Far Coast shops within participating Cineplex theatres: http://www.cineplex.com/Promos/FarCoast.aspx
Contest #2
Freebie: A gift card for Umbra
Value: $25
Source: I was one of the first 25 people to RSVP to the exclusive launch party of their new product line ("POP"). At the door, I was handed a $25 gift card (which I haven't used yet--I didn't quite see anything I fancied--I may gift it to someone at some point). Also enjoyed FREE wine and sweets from Dufflet Pastries--both very good. AND, on the way to the shop, I recieved two free samples of Trident's new "gumwich" gum--promotors were handing them out on the street to passers-by. I wouldn't buy it, but what the heck, for free--I enjoyed it!
Scanning Code of Practice #1
Freebie: A package of 4 individual packs of Trident Xtra Care gum.
Value: $3.99
Source: Shoppers Drug Mart. This had a sale sign stating $3.49 (50 cents off the regular price). At the register, it rang in for $3.99. I requested a price check (much to the impatience of the lady behind me, but so what), and sure enough, it was indeed supposed to be on sale. The cashier of course apologized and told me that they would honour the sale price--at which I politely reminded her that as per the scanning code of practice, since the item had scanned higher than the advertised price, I was entitled to receive it for free--which she immediately confirmed. Walked out with a smile...
Total Freebie Value for February: $76.02
TOTAL FREEBIE VALUE FOR 2010: $268.45This thread is currently associated with: Cineplex & Scene Rewards, Loblaws, Metro, Pharmaprix, Shoppers Drug Mart, Starbucks
