I have the day off today so I started my tiny little shop with a free buttermilk biscuit breakfast sandwich at McDonald's, then to Metro for two Arctic Gardens veggies (with $1 and $2 coupies), and one box of Catelli Healthy Harvest penne ($1 coupie), for a total of 1.73 OOP.
Then I had to go to Shoppers to drop off an Optimum card that I found on the ground downtown. While there I asked if they take the Softlips coupon on the $1.99 sale item and they said yes but only one at a time. So I got one of those for free. I know there has been a bit of contention with this coupon but if you ask the manager and they say yes, and you don't buy 20 of them... I think it is ok.
All in all, not too shabby, and home well before lunch time.

WTG! I was sitting here posting around 10:00 a m. and then said "Hey, I'd like a free biscuit breakfast thingy" so off I went, yum.
Yesterday at Metro I also got the Catelli Healthy Harvest, but I bought the broad noodles, @ 2 bags for $3.00 with $1.00 off WUB2 , and 5 Air Miles for buying 2 of the pasta. I had 2 coupons so I got 4 bags of the noodles.
Gosh I have to calculate now, oop that was $4.00 but earned 10 Air Miles as well.
Always amazes me that many AM promos want to give you 1 lousy AM for $20.00 spent. I like these offers better. lol

Thanks for posting/sharing your great day.

Oh! I forgot that the box of CHH penne also has a coupon inside for $1 WUB 2, so maybe I should go back to Metro! Love the airmiles when you can get them. I love to cash them in for dinners at the Keg and Cineplex movie packages. Those are two things I love, but hate how expensive they are.

I used coupons plus 25 airmileswhen you spend $35 (as long as it is before coupons,it works) a few times. That is how I have been getting all my points. In the past week I have gotten almost 400 with only spending less than $100.

Great idea, I should try that... although I only shop at Metro when there are really good deals...

Jonsey, that is exactly how I rack up the AM. as well.
Metro often has the bonus days but I only go for the things I use ( Quaker bars 5 for $10.00 and get 20 AM, Tim's large can coffee, buy 1 get 20 AM, pop, juices, ice tea deals, 3 cases for $12.00 get 20 AM, the real cartons of juices ( orange mango, pineapple orange) they were like 3 for $10.00 get 20 AM. Normally I would not pay $3.33 a carton for any beverage but it was healthier than "fruit drink".
Then when it comes time to redeem AM, for 160 AM I take 1 $20.00 Metro voucher, so in the long run the juice ends up being $2.50 a carton. Once they had these delicious roasted red peppers in jars on sale fairly cheap ( $1.00 ?) and offering like 3 or 4 AM per jar, it was kinda crazy. The cashier was wondering why I had like 6 jars of peppers, which btw you can use them in anything you make, so tasty.

Metro is too pricey of a store to do regular fruits, veg, meat shopping at so I just go in and grab the items that work and get out quickly.

It often has meat reduced because it's close to expiration....I stock up and put it in the freeze

Was there a lineup for the McD's free sandwich ? Did they have a sign mentioning that .. I hate it when the staff don't know about their own promo & you have to explain where you saw it

I think todays was @ 5.00 AM starting ..too early for me ..LOL ..I thought they might all be gone when I reach there .

Probably will go in tomorrow ..

TJ ~ There was a sign on the drive thru menu by the speaker, presumably there is one in the store, too.
There was no line up, just 2 cars ahead of me. The car right in front of me just drove past the pay window and right to the pickup window and was handed a small bag.
I think they are prepared for lots of customers, so there will not be any "running out".
Breakfast goes until either 10:30 or 11:00, I am not too sure.
I did hear of line ups at other locations, but I went to a brand new store which is a little out of the way, maybe that made the difference.
