Hi,
I am not sure if you read about my last post and we were contemplating putting down our dog but we could not because she is considered healthy. So we put an ad up and a guy answered the ad that apparently rehabilitates aggressive dogs and what not. He came about half an hour ago and she was really overly exuberant first and then she calmed down and he seemed to know exactly how to control her. I didn't think I would be sad to see her go but I am about ready to burst into tears. despite the headache she caused, I still love her and to see her walk out with her new owner was bittersweet. I felt like bursting into tears and happy that she had a new home where she can hopefully be happy and have someone who can be firm and control her. I don't know what I will do now. I feel almost like I did when our other dogs died. But we had them all till they were seniors. Our border collie who died in 2006 was almost 17. I guess it goes to show that time doesn't matter in terms of how attached one can get. It is odd though that I grew to love her so much with her being such a pain in the neck. I suppose she had her moments where she was good and she made us laugh. Now my parents refuse to allow another dog into our house after what happened with her. That is really hard as well. I wish she understood more that she would never see us again so she at least would have let me say good bye. I am also not sure how Felix is going to react because she is gone. He gets very stressed at any change good or bad. But he is safer without her. Thanks for letting me let this out. I think I need to go find something funny to watch or something to take my mind off of things. I will cuddle with my kitty I think also.

Just think that it is in her best interests...she will be cared for and hopefully the new owner will be able to calm her down and give her a good home. I know it will be lonesome for you for awhile but Felix will make things easier. Hugs Deals.

You did the right thing! People get very attached their pets (pain in the neck or not) and really only pet owners can understand the attachment and bond that is created there. So as a multiple pet owner, I can only imagine how hard it was to see her off

So, good for you for sending her someone who can work with her properly - she will be much happier in the end!

Deals, this is the best outcome for the situation. You now know that your dog will get the rehab training it needs and should one day find a home...and at the same time Felix and your family are safe. Big hugs to you and your family for making a tough decision.

Im really glad that you found someone to take your doggy. I was quite worried for yours and felix's safety. I know it is sad, but you know he went to a good home.

Deals! You were asking for advice or comments from us, but you came up with a wonderful solution! Now, it seems, everyone involved is safe! I know how it feels to see your doggie "leave" for the last time. We lost ours when he ran in front of a car 3 weeks ago. I sobbed as I never thought I would for an animal. He had "woofed" and snuggled his way into my heart. I'm so happy yours will find a good home to spend the next years of his life happily!

How lucky you were to find someone to help - I think that's just great!
Of course you are going to miss it, but Felix will give you lots of comfort!

I'm glad you were able to find a home for your dog. It's hard but for the best. I get really easily attached to animals so I know how hard it is. I even get attached to the baby robins in the backyard, I was so sad when the raven found them and ate half of them. Then 1 died and the last little baby was cold and snuggling up with it. I know it's all nature but I hate seeing it
One by one, the penguins slowly steal my sanity

thanks everyone. it helps. Felix is noticing that she is gone but right now I can't tell if he is happy or sad about it. He is more acting like things changed again and he isn't sure what is going on. he is hiding right now though-not sure why. maybe he is thinking something will all of a sudden jump out at him that she is still coming back. but she isn't. I think he will relax in a few days hopefully.
