TLC Extreme Couponing

Although it was that show that got my daughter and I enthused about couponing I did question why they would need so much of certain items. I agree that the black woman was the best of them because she had a whole discipline and routine that got her out exercising, socializing and assisting in her community as well. It wasn't just about getting as much as she could for little or no money.

Watching the show made me not want to coupon[or not as much] as these people appeared greedy the black women lady was the only one I liked as she shared her stuff and also only got things she needed or used,the lady who got 150 or so chocolate bars made me cringe and all the people who had 100 boxes of pasta in there stash were just nutty to me who in there lifetime will use that much pasta,after the show I got a curtain and covered my stash in the basement as I was kinda embarrassed,although I will watch the show LOL

I can't wait, but I kind of wish they would have a Canadian one too. Just so I can learn a few things. I don't shop in the US so really I won't be getting any good deals form watching the show other then asking my hubby to move us there so I can get the good deals too lol

I don't like it. It seems as though The limit of 4 like coupons appeared on PG coupons after the first show aired.

We all know the US have more coupon opportunities than Canadians, and I'm afraid a show like this will just make couponing harder in Canada.

After the show airs the stores might get a bunch of noncouponers just grabbing any coupon for products they wouldn't buy in the first place hoping to get stuff for free.

I saw the episodes the last time, and agree with most folks on here - those in the US get way more of an advantage using coupons with stacking, unlimited quantities of items and also unlimited coupons in one transaction. This would never fly with those cashiers at Walmart, Zellers, Shoppers Drug Mart, etc. But look at it this way, we have a better healthcare system in Canada than the US!

My friend and I were discussing this show tonight - she's convinced it's going to have a negative effect; that people will start going crazy and stores will start limiting quantities.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. The people who have patience for coupons are usually intelligent people, and when they find this site they'll realize that 'going crazy' won't help anyone.

That, and that the rest of the people who are semi-interested because of the show will probably come here, lurk around, realize that no, it's not the same as in the US and can be a lot more difficult here, and forget about it completely. It's too hard for some people, they just don't want to do it because it all makes their brain ache.

You have to be pretty intelligent to stack coupons - and use coupons, there is alot to it - when my brain gets tired out I go and have a strong cup of coffee to revive myself sometimes!!! I love the challenge, and thanks to everyone on SC, our home is loaded with food, cleaning supplies, and fun things now!! Before SC my pantry was pretty empty, now I'm fully stocked at all times and I am able to save a bit of money now as well.

Also by next Christmas, I'll have alot of Shoppers Drug Mart points, that I'll use for all of my presents, so I won't be going into any further debt - WOOO HOOO!!!

The funniest thing about all of this to me is, I HATE HATE HATE math. I always sucked at it, would never pay any attention because it just frustrated me. I don't know how I ever got through it. I was in E math, which for 9th and 10th grade they actually give you smarties to count with. I haven't seen that since I volunteered to help out some first and second grade kids with trouble in basic math.

And now here I am with an entirely math-related hobby? A hobby that involves calculations, predictions of sales, unit prices, planning, making tables and charts? I have FOLDERS for goodness sake. THREE of them. And I always carry a calculator with me!

I'm still absolutely horrible at quick math sometimes, I get fuzz brain, but I somehow manage to be a whiz at all of this.

i think that there will be a rush of people getting into it... but once they realize just how much work it is and they don't get everything they need right away it will cool down... will make it far more difficult to get coupons. Lets just hope they figure out canada's couponing is far more difficult then the states. (i am considering a trip to the states for fun to give their couponing a shot)

i completely agree with you! i took accounting in grade 11 for my math credit because i hate hate hated math! and also took the "easy" math in grade 9-10 because i couldn't do the regular math.. and here i have a hobby that is entirely math related lol

My grade 8 teacher taught us to always think of math in terms of shopping, we would understand it a lot more
