So last week I had a miserable experience at RCSS. I was attempting to stack an Old Spice MFC with the Instore (free bodywash wub). The girl entered my mfc and then rudely told me I couldnt use the instore as well. I asked if they had changed their policy recently ( I had done it the week before). Again rude told me that she has worked their a long time and it has never been like that (uh ok, except by everyone but her). Then she read the back of the coupon which DOES now state cannot be combined... OK, I said "that's fine, I was not aware of the new policy. I would like to use the Instore instead then as the savings will be greater" "you can't, I can't void a manufacturer coupon after its been entered its too late!" UH OK, well then I don't want them at all I'll just buy these diapers and this set of pajama's. She made a huge deal out of having to void the entire transaction (and didn't return my mfc, she said it was no good anymore, UH why not you guys can't claim it for a purchase I didn't make).
Anyway.... so the pajama's were a shirt/pants/short set and the shorts had come detached for the rest in my cart. I placed it all on the counter and she asked where the rest of the shorts set was. I replied that it was part of the shirt pants set. She didn't even ring it in to check she just started going off about how it was not and I can't just take stuff and put it with other stuff. EXCUSE ME!!! I replied that is how it is labelled and hanging on the shelf. At which point the other CS girl comes over finally scans the item and points out that it is indeed a 3PC set. No apology, no nothing just "oh".
The next day I decided to write an email to rcss. Not for being denied the stack just the entire encounter and how I was treated. I said that staff should be trained in coupon policies and informed if there are changes in them. I also related the entire pajama fiasco. This morning I received a call from a nice lady who went over things. I explained what happened again and she said that although the cashier was correct in not allowing the combined offer (which is fine), she was wrong for not allowing me to make the choice of coupon as well as not returning the coupon to me. She also apologized about 4 times for the pajama thing. They are sending me a giftcard as an apology and contacting the manager of the store.
Guess I'm going to have to avoid her like the plauge when I go in there. I imagine I wont be her favorite customer. I told the girl who called that if it was just the coupon thing I probably would have let it go and just chalked it up to a bad day, but I was too pissed about the PJ's. Just because I use coupons don't try to make me feel like a thief. Anyway it was nice to hear from a person instead of a generic, sorry about your troubles blah blah blah email. This thread is currently associated with: Guess, Real Canadian Superstore RCSS

Sorry to hear about your experience at RCSS, especially about the 3-piece set.

I'm glad they phoned you back and apologized. Are you feeling better about it?

Sometimes complaining is the best policy. It is the only way to make them informed. I wonder though how it seems like everytime you go to a store there is always new staff and "someone" who doesn't understand one coupon per purchase from one particular UPC code and multiples allowed "per transaction"...is there that many people in Canada? Once you learn as a cashier can they not advise other cashiers or other store employees or get a memo sent out? It just seems that stores just thrust a person into the cash line with no training and that is wrong. Every employee should be taught properly in coupons and coupon usage/lingo so that the whole shopping experience is more desireable.

Well, at least good for RCCS management for contacting you with a live person. And apology. And Giftcard

Very weird though as I stacked the exact coupons at my RCCS last week no problemo. I asked first at CS in case the coupon stacking policy had changed (as it has been a while since ive done that there) and they said no.2010: won $4050 in contests! 2011: won $2160 in contests! 2012: won $86 in contests! 2013: won $137 in contests!

Good for you for sending the email
I'd be tempted to find that cashier next time I went in just to see if she treats you any differently. I'd rub it in by being super nice too, lol

RCSS has to get their instore coupon + use of a manufacturer coupon on the same product thing straightened out, can we or can't we...I hate coming into RCSS and wondering what the decision of the day will be.
I'm glad someone called you and apologized about how you were treated, because that kind of rudeness should never be acceptable:pottytrain2: :pottytrain2: :pottytrain2:

Good for them, we spend money at the stores, if we aren't treated like we are trying to rip them off just because we use coupons then we will be more likely to come back. I feel lucky that I have never had such an awful experience!!!! I agree, I would go back to her when I got the GC with a ton of coupons
and just see if she is more polite. That kind of behaviour is just unacceptable!!!!!!
