Ha ha Yes this happened to me today at SDM. Ben's bread was on sale for $1.99 and the cashier would not take my $2.00 off coupon... because as she stated "...it would be like getting bread for free". I told her politely that I would be using the coupon and that we should call the manager. She did, and he told her that the store was going to get reimbursed for the coupon anyway, so she should ring the coupon in at 1.99.

lol..I have had that happen to me a few times now lol...they just dont seem to get that they will be reimbursed for the coupon, plus handling. I really wish that the stores would train their cashier's better...it wouldnt take much work to do that and would save sooo much time and frustration for them and for us!

When I first started couponing I would have just said, okay well I don't want to purchase the bread, thanks. But since I have been couponing for a whole 2 MONTHS I have lots of experience ha ha!
I really felt like saying - that' s the point! Free bread!

So glad it worked out for you. I can't tell you the number of times I've had somebody make a similar comment to me in a really nasty, condescending tone and it just makes me want to throw my hands in the air and yell "Well no DUUUUHH! Do you think I'm incapable of addition and subtraction or what?" and give them the most stoogey face ever when I say DUH.

I'm having a real hard time with the attitude of some cashiers. It's like I'm a crook or a thief. Even some friends are a bit condescending when I mention that I started couponing. "Are you that broke?" seems to be the only reason/perception according to some people. I'm starting to stand my ground better and I will ask for the supervisor next time one of my coupon is questioned or refused...
Thanks all for the great site

I get that a lot too and usually I just smile and say, "That's the whole point - aren't I clever?"

cashiers are afraid of doing something wrong by accepting your coupons, that is perhaps why they act that way, that is what I gather.
