    Just in Safeway. They have cards at the cashiers that for a $2 donation to Easter Seals you get 10% off Safeway house brands.

    If you have a good sized freezer you could load up on the frozen veggies and do really well.

    Also noticed the new 5Xs AM Safeway coupon in the latest mail out is a minimum $120 purchase. Used to be $60. The B@$T@RD$! ;-)

    Re: Veggies

    Email.direct:

    B3 Safeway Veggies G50 AMs

    The Safeway frozen veggies are $3.79 so Get 50 AirMiles for $11.37.

    Consider at Safeway this week:

    a. Safeway B3G50 @ $3.79/KG

    b. Blue No Name $2.96/KG

    c. Green Giant $2.50/750g (Prorated = $3.33/KG)

    Clearly the Blue NN is cheaper than Green Giant's pro-rated $3.33 but is NN at $2.96/KG better than Safeway at $3.79 with AirMiles?

    You can't know unless you place a value on the AirMiles which the other method doesn't do.

    If you place a value on the AirMiles using the average of $0.14/AM then 50AMs = $7.00 so each package gets $7.00/3 = $2.33

    $3.79 - $2.33 = $1.46

    NN = $2.96 while Safeway is effectively $1.46

    Safeway brand is the better deal.

    Even if you set the value lower, eg. $0.125 (common for restaurant gift cards) then 50AMs = $6.25/3 = $2.08 per package.

    Effectively the Safeway is $3.79 = $2.08 = $1.71 vs. NN at $2.96

    Now it's very clear whether this is a good deal or not.

    I bought my Easter turkey the other day. .97 cents a lb is pretty darn good. I normally get them for . 99 not a big difference but still a difference.

    So if you donate the $2 and get the coupon for 10% off Safeway brands, would this be right.

    3.79-0.37-2.33=$1.09 per package with airmiles worth $2.33?

    Smalls,

    Would work best for 6 or more more:

    3 cost $11.37

    10% off is $1.14 but you have to spend $2 to get it so you're down $2 - $1.14 = $0.86

    Buy 6 = $22.74

    10% = $2.27 so you've saved and extra $0.27 over the $2 cost of the donation.

    9 = $34.11 @ 10% = $3.41 - $2 coupon = $1.41 ahead.

    Not huge savings but if your food bank is buying bulk it adds up.

    Today is 10% Tuesday (minimum $35 purchase).

    If you've collected Brandsaver coupons on Crest Toothpaste it's a winner.

    Crest regular toothpastes are B2G20 @ $1.99 each.

    BrandSaver coupons knock off $0.75 each so $1.24 after coupon and $1.12 after 10% discount.

    10AMs = $1.40 approx so you're making $1.40 - $1.12 = $0.28/item

    You're being paid to shop.

    Was just in Safeway and realized I made an error on the toothpaste:

    The $1.99 are B3G10

    The $2.50 are B2G20

    So the effective value of the $2.50 today after coupons and 10% is:

    $2.50 - $0.75 = $1.75 - 10% = $1.575 - $1.40AMs = $0.175/tube

    Today I bought:

    10 Toothpaste
    4 Glide
    4 Mouthwash (which I use to disinfect toothbrushes)
    2 Raisin Bread (email.direct B2G20)

    Total after taxes and coupons = $40.69

    AMs = 200 + 2 credit card + 4 bonus extra for shopping at a sponsor on my credit card = 206 = $28.84 reduced costs elsewhere.

    Took the 10%.

    It's better than 10Xs.

    My bill was approx. $45.

    Safeway's base is 1AM/$20 spent so on $45 you'd get 2 X 10 = 20 AMs = $2.80 approx.

    10% of $45 = $4.50 which is better than $2.80 by far.

    Even if you spent $59.99 you'd still only get 2 Base miles X 10 = 20AMs = $2.80

    While 10% of $59.99 rounds to $6 more than double the base offer.

    Always take the 10% cash.
