No more points for prescriptions as of June 1st 2011

Just wanted to let everyone know that effective June 1st, 2011 we will not be able to go to any pharmacy any more and receive points

I was at SDM today to get medication and they told me the government is stopping ALL stores of giving points for medications, as they feel two many people are going out and getting prescriptions JUST to get the points!!!!!!!!!

She mentioned the following stores:


Zellers
SDM
Safeway

Before it ends get three months refill for the points. I think this is crazy

I believe that Ontario hasn't allowed points for quite awhile at SDM but in BC they do, so I guess it will change in BC now.

Yeah, Ontario doesn't allow for points Zellers doesn't give out points (in ONT) either.

Hmmm I get mine at Coopers where I get a bonus save on points 3000 points after every 10 prescriptions I fill. I hope that that isn't coming to an end. It's a nice bump towards the bread maker I want to get with my save on points!

Shouldn't it be up to the doctor not to prescribe unnecessary medication? Shouldn't the government be coming down on doctors who overprescribe instead of penalizing those innocent people who collect their airmiles and make the best of a bad and expensive medical condition? What a screwed up world we live in!
The government is ok with us taking wildly dangerous and overpriced drugs for the enrichment of pharmaceutical companies, but god forbid we the patients should find some little benefit in all that!

We have always gotten them for my Dad I was just waiting for a new SDM to open near us to transfer our Rxs there so we could get points. That sucks.

I'm not a SDM member, but can't you guys buy a gift card (get points for buying card), then use the card to buy the medication? Lol.

Thats ridiculous! Did they forget to account for the fact that people cant get those medicines without prescriptions which means a doctor feels they need it... Man! Who voted for these numbskulls!?

Oh no! No more airmiles at Safeway. Mom's a diabetic and I've gotten so many airmiles from her with my card.
