Drivers in the lead are going to get run over by the guys with fuel in the pickup.

The used to let the drivers race to get their lap back on a caution until Dale Jarrett almost got t-boned

Free pass car - understand it, but why do they give it?

Because they took away the race to the finish to get your lap back. No more racing to the line.

they used to line up at restart with the lap down cars on the inside and the lead lap cars on the outside. When they went to all the lead lap cars at the front, they allowed the free pass

that was a good one for sure.. must have been the Pennzoil in Harvick's engine that cut down the friction and allowed for that great gas mileage..
