Omar Khadr to receive apology and $10.5M from Canada

A $10.5 million apology – that’s what the Canadian government is going to hand over to former Guantanamo Bay prisoner Omar Khadr, who pleaded guilty to killing a U.S. soldier in Afghanistan when he was 15. Canada’s Supreme Court later ruled that officials had interrogated him under "oppressive circumstances." Word is the Canadian government and Khadr's lawyers negotiated the deal last month.

Jul. 4 shouldn't actually be Independence Day. It was actually on Jul. 2 that the Second Continental Congress met in Philadelphia and approved a motion for independence from Britain. It wasn't until two days later, on Jul. 4, that the Declaration of Independence was adopted by Congress, and the Founding Fathers declared the day officially Independence Day.

North Korea tests missile it claims can reach 'anywhere in the world'

The Pentagon is confirming North Korea has launched another missile. North Korea claimed to have tested its first intercontinental ballistic missile in a launch Tuesday, a potential game-changing development in its push to militarily challenge Washington. American officials - admitting they tracked it for nearly 40 minutes. North Korean officials claim the missile could potentially reach as far as Alaska.

It will be a short week for me. Once I finish work today, I'm off to Parry Sound for the week. Family get together celebrating my Dad's birthday on Friday. Can't wait. Weather up there is to be beautiful, mid 20's during the day to mid teens at night & no rain. Awesome.

Goodafternoon. Kind a missed Canada Day and the rest of the weekend working. ThoughtI would be finished the dam kitchen this weekend but no, close but no cigar! Thenhurt the back with the floor sander yesterday, rough shape today. But finishedor not I will be in a London Pub three weeks from today. Taking tomorrow nightoff, to go to see King Crimson. Saw them once before at Maple Leaf Gardens, butso Fuc..d Up I don’t remember a thing, only concert with no memories. I have stared at the old ticket stub tryingfor some faint memory but nothing.
