Taste of the Danforth
Taste of the Danforth kicks off this morning. More than 150 vendors are taking part in the annual event which continues to grow in popularity. About 1.6 million are expected to visit the event this year.
Drivers and residents in the area are being reminded that Danforth will be closed from Broadview to Jones until Sunday evening

U.S., South Korea set for large-scale war games amid North's missile threat
US and South Korean military officials say they plan to move ahead with large-scale joint military exercises this month that North Korea claims are a rehearsal for war. The exercises are an annual event, but come as Pyongyang says it is readying a plan to fire off mid-range ballistic missiles toward the tiny US territory of Guam -- a major military hub.
The plan would be sent to leader Kim Jong Un for approval just before or as the 10-days of US-South Korea drills begin on August 21st, involving tens of thousands of troops on the ground, the sea and air.
Canadian teenager Denis Shapovalov upsets Rafael Nadal at Rogers Cup
An absolute stunner at the Rogers Cup in Montreal as the 18-year-old Canadian, Denis Shapovalov upset Rafael Nadal 3-6, 6-4, 7-6, advancing to the quarterfinals in the process. The Richmond Hill native will now move on to meet Adrian Mannarino in the quarter finals.
Shapovalov also became the youngest quarter-finalist at a masters series tournament ever and is the youngest to beat a player ranked in the top two in the world since Nadal beat Roger Federer in 2004.
