TIFF 2018 kicks off
The next 11 days will be star studded in the city as the Toronto International Film Festival kicks off today. More than 340 features are expected to hit the screen but there's no one creating more of a buzz than "Outlaw King" - the untold, true story of Robert the Bruce, who transformed from defeated nobleman, to reluctant king, to outlaw hero.
Michael Moore and his controversial flicks are back - this time Moore takes aim at Donald Trump in Fahrenheit 11-9. Ryan Gosling’s space race drama First Man has many talking and Bradley Cooper will make his directional debut with A Star is Born.
Drivers and commuters in general can expect some headaches thanks to TIFF. Starting this morning, King Street is off limits because of the annual street festival, in place between Spadina and University Avenue until September 10th. John Street and Simcoe Street between King Street and Wellington Street will also be closed during that five-day period. The King street car will also be diverted to Queen.

Maple Leafs in no hurry to pick captain
With expectations high for the upcoming season, the Maple Leafs are about a week out from training camp but the club remains without a captain, and it could stay that way through the entire season, according to GM Kyle Dubas. Speaking to TSN, Dubas confirmed that even with John Tavares in the fold, a "captainless club" is a potential scenario.
Another big question heading into camp will be whether the club can get a long term deal with William Nylander done, following the signing of John Tavares and heading into the final season of the entry level deals of Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner. Dubas says he’s confident he can keep his young core together for a number of years.
Training camp will take place from September 14-16 at Gale Centre Arena in Niagara Falls.

The main goal is to encourage reading, as both fiction and non-fiction books open up huge unknown vistas to enquiring minds. Taking the opportunity to enjoy some time out of the day to relax and read is good for the soul and the mind.
