We've haven't had a gas war in years. Why do you think the prices are so high now. The only real major price differences are between urban and rural gas stations.

Trooper the miracle cat gets love from rock icons

Trooper the cat is still rockin' on despite being found frozen to a driveway in Newfoundland in February.
The miracle critter has tugged on the heart strings of supporters around the world after its harrowing ordeal Feb. 11 in Stephenville Crossing, N.L., and it supporters include the kitty's own namesake - classic Canadian rock band Trooper.
The cat, recovering from the loss of a hind leg and tail due to frostbite, was sent a care package from the band -- including a pint-sized T-shirt with the name of their hit song Raise a Little Hell on it and an autographed CD.
"He's really enjoying all this attention now. He never got it before," Gwen Samm, one of the volunteers from the Society for the Care and Protection of Animals who helped rescue Trooper, said Monday.
Trooper has nearly 4,000 fans from around the world on a Facebook page created in the kitty's name, and supporters have donated nearly $12,000 for his medical bills.
"When we rescued him we knew we were going to do whatever we could for him, but we never dreamed that it would go this far," Samm said.
Animal society volunteers estimate Trooper clung to life with his backside frozen solid to the ground for at least 18 hours. Samm and her sister Doloris, also a volunteer at the Stephenville society, poured a few buckets of warm water on the cat to free the animal and rushed him to the clinic.
"(The vet) took his temperature and it didn't even register. That's how cold he was," Samm said.
Trooper was flown to P.E.I., where his hind leg and tail were amputated, and was treated for pelvic fractures. He's now doing well in foster care and his treatment for bladder control is ongoing.
The inspiration for the cat's name is obvious.
"He should have been dead. This cat had the will to live so we were definitely not going to give up on him," said Samm. "The help and love from the supporters around the world has really has restored my faith in humanity."

Woman, 93, retires 1964 car after 927,000 km

After about 927,000 kilometres, 18 batteries, eight mufflers and 48 years, a 93-year-old Florida grandmother and her classic car have reached the end of the road.
Rachel Veitch, who lives in Orlando, hung up the keys to her 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente after she ran a red light last month and realized her vision had failed her, Fox News reports.
"I am legally blind, so I can no longer drive my lovely chariot," she told Fox News. "They don't have to take it away, I would not dream of driving that car again."
Veitch, a retired nurse, told the broadcaster in July 2009 that her car had outlasted three marriages and three sets of shocks.
She bought the car in 1964 for $3,289.


Yup getting old sucks but she sure made good use of her beloved car!
