A photo of a man's love for his aging dog – captured by a Wisconsin photographer and posted on Facebook – now has more than a quarter of a million ‘Likes' from all corners of the globe.


A moving photograph posted August 1 has stopped Facebook users in their tracks and prompted them to send more than 35,000 supportive comments in a variety of languages to John Unger, his pet Schoep (pronounced ‘Shep’ but spelled for a Wisconsin brand of ice cream), and his photographer friend Hannah Stonehouse.
The original post with the moving photograph by Stonehouse Photography noted: “This is 19-year-old Shep being cradled in his father’s arms last night in Lake Superior. Shep falls asleep every night when he is carried into the lake. The buoyancy of the water soothes his arthritic bones. Lake Superior is very warm right now, so the temp of the water is perfect…I was so happy I got to capture this moment for John. By the way, John rescued Shep as an 8-month-old puppy, and he’s been by his side through many adventures .”

Good morning, everyone.

So, my friend who had the Siamese in the backyard (& a resident bunny who is a bit skittish, hence the inability for Lily & Quincy to pay visits inside the house) went out yesterday, bought a door & created a basement apt for Ramses. Yes, the Siamese has a name. Now comes the challenge of living an upstairs life & a downstairs life. But it's not too bad. The TV is downstairs, as is the office, the pool table, the fireplace. I think Ramses got the better deal. There's still a chance that Ramses has a home, we'll find out when he goes in to the vet & gets scanned for a microchip.

I was feeling guilty & at the point of taking him in myself. Lily would have been thrilled. Quincy not so much.

Off to help a friend organize her storage locker.

Well my dear friends,

Loocie reporting from rehab. It's going slow, but I am making progress. I can't wait to get home, but I have to focus on the baby steps I am taking.

I hear we lost Phylis Diller today. Bless her sweet gentle soul. She was a trail blazer for female comics. She always made me smile with her zany wit & her laugh was so contagious.
She lived to a noble age.

Well, I hope you are all being good & enjoying the weather. I know McSkier is counting the days to when the snowflakes fly & the cold icy air encompass us all.........but she'll just have to wait!

Thank you all so very much for your kindness & encouragement. It means the world to me. For a group of people who have never met, we sure are a tight knit group.
