Thanks for the update Mmmme... so glad to hear that mom is on road to recovery, but it's very sad that her living costs are so high... :(
10:14 PM "NOT FADE AWAY" - ROLLING STONES
Mmmme: yes, I know it can be very costly to help people in need out - I remember when my dad needed help after a stroke, this was a few years back and just to get him transportation back for a weekend at home cost near $100. and the monthly bills were a lot just to stay somewhere that they hate to be, this was the best one we could find but it's still not "home"!
Got the tree up and working on decorations around the house, it's amazing how many you bring in, I think I better get rid of a few and keep just the better ones. The puds seemed to be enjoying all the new stuff coming out, of course they like to change things up a bit! What a warm day eh? Walked around quite a bit - down by the water it was warm too!!! Can't complain about that even if it was rainy!
See ya all later - gonna watch a little tube even though I really like Little Steven's Garage!

Gooooood moooooorning my q friends. I crashed early last night. Had a great but exhausting weekend. Hope all had a great weekend also. Wow!!!! I was just thinking my mom's birthday is wednesday and she will be 85.
Nursing home fees are quite a significant expense, although the costs can be quite a bit higher in some of the States. So that was a big motivation to get my husband out of one, and back home.
In Ontario the fees are standard,(approx 1700 for a ward situation) and placement is through the CCAC. The best ones, of course, have long waiting lists. No privacy, and the place seemed crowded, especially when you have the constant lineup of the wheelchairs for the elevator to get tothe dining room for meals...
I think that the rehab unit of the hospital was nicer. You could use the lounge area to fix a snack or get a cup of tea, flatscreen tv included in every room, Tim Hortons just a short roll down the hall. Most the the Trillium facility near Sherway was used for day surgeries, so this was a small mainfloor wing for the longterm rehab. The time limit was 4 months, however, and then the nursing home placement only took days.
Have an excellent Monday gang! I watched Wayne's World with my son this weekend, can you tell? Party on. Actually I have new retro nerd glasses and he is now calling me Garth. Lovely, just lovely...
