....yes, the days sure don't shine as brightly as they did when he was here.....ye olde "hindsight is 20-20" bit drives me nuts...as his big sister, I was always told to watch out for him.....old habits die hard, and I just wish I had handles his drunk texting to his kids differently....like a smack upside the head, and a hug, followed by the words "love your gutties"...I do know those were my last words to him, we never missed saying it....now, I make a point to say it to his kids every time I talk to them....TR

Happy Birthday Ontario Place it's hard to believe you are forty!
Many of us remember your inception; yet still we are feeling sporty,
Did you see North of Superior at the Cinesphere?
& pay a virtual northern visit via the IMax frontier?
Did you perhaps have your first visit upon a class excursion?
Weren't those trips fun & a schoolastic diversion?
Wasn't the forum the most dreamy venue?
So many greats that graced its fine menu?
Even free admittance during the days of the ex,
So much to offer in so many respects,
I remember seeing Harry Chapin, Lighthouse & April Wine,
The Tragically Hip, The Spoons made it simply sublime,
Muddy Waters, Blue Rodeo & Ronnie Hawkins was rockin',
Luba, The Parachute Club & David Wilcox - (he was slightly shockin')
Murray McLauchlan was one of my faves,
& as that stage revolved the lake crashed its waves.
The pubs were alright & the grass was green,
I remember smooching on the hill, when I was a teen,
Roller skating, the children's village & the price was right,
& you could have fun in the morning till long into the night,
Just a memory & just a thought or two that I hope you can all recall,
& intentionally omitted was Teen Age Head & that terrible awful brawl....

..thank you so much for your brilliant memory-evoking poem again, Loocie!!!....first year Ontario Place was open, my dad and the band he played in was booked into a bar called the Mug n Jug ( how the blazes did I remember than after all these years?!?!?)....we saw North Of Superior at least 3 times every time we went with him and my mum, it was free to get in...we saw Edward Bear there, and in later years, I saw the Romantics and Goddo, too, I think.... they're the only ones I can remember.....we got to know the names of every person at the bar, and surrounding shops....it was so much fun there, we knew it inside and out by the end of that summer, for sure....it was so new and fresh.....TR

I remember we had our grade 8 graduation party at Ontario Place the year it opened. It was a hot day and everyone played in the fountain.
I can still feel myself flying North of Superior.
I think that I saw Harry Chapin there maybe 3 or 4 times. I remember on one occasion it was raining but the crowd remained sitting on the wet grass at the forum. Chapin could not believe we all stayed.

July 16th marks the 30th anniversary of Harry Chapin's passing.

He probably would have been doing more & the same & then some. He sure had an awareness of so many things that mattered.

OK, so my youngest has gone to a buddy's cottage for the weekend, dh is on his way to the cottage to finish painting the trim ( watching it dry is really boring, since he doesn't trust me with a paint brush....yeah whatever.....)..so it's me and the pooches...
.........I love having the place to myself, so I can do what I want (including staying in my nice cool nightie all day long!!)...but I should get my niece's wedding TY cards done, I'll start with 50...I could clean the house too, since no-one is here to mess it up.....hmmm...let's see......play at my desk for the weekend, or clean the house....wow, tough choice....guess what activity loses......
..............signing off for now...I have to choose between KFC, pizza or Swiss Chalet, cos I AM NOT COOKING!!!.... ...TR

Good Day,
Just back from Rosseau this afternoon..take your time folks the traffic north looked brutal. When we drove down the road at St.Louis was still closed - I know its open now - the detour was just fine. My thoughts and prayers to the men who were tragilcally killed this morning.
Weather was awesome all week...headed home for a function tomorrow.....think I was the only one heading south whilst the rest of the world was heading north
Seems like it was only a short while ago I was at the Rosseau farmers market!!!!
Mind you with this hot weather in the forecast am thinking AC is a good thing.
Shall get caught up with posts and ty for the messages..can't wait to read reps ect.
