The first big Rock festival held on the east coast, The Miami Festival, gets under way in Hallandale, Florida. Tickets sell for six and seven dollars and 100,000 people turn out for the three day event. Those appearing include the hottest acts of the day, Jose Feliciano, Procol Harem, Three Dog Night, Chuck Berry, Fleetwood Mac, Marvin Gaye, The Turtles, Canned Heat and Joni Mitchell.

Singer / songwriter Tim Hardin died at age 40 of a heroin overdose in his Hollywood apartment. He is best remembered for "If I Were a Carpenter" (a hit for Bobby Darin in 1966 and the Four Tops in 1968) and "Reason to Believe" (a hit for Rod Stewart in 1971).

The trade publication Pollstar reported that Bon Jovi was the highest earning touring act of the year, taking in over $200 million (£130.7m). Australian rockers AC/DC landed at number two for the second year in a row, with tickets sales from their recent trek totaling $177m (£115m). U2, which was the top worldwide act in 2009, came in at third place with ticket sales totaling $160.9m (£104.6m). Lady Gaga followed in fourth place, with Metallica at number five.

Robert Lee Dickey, who performed as Bobby Purify in the '60s Soul duo James And Bobby Purify, passed away at the age of 72. The pair is most often remembered for their 1966, Billboard Top 10 hit, "I'm Your Puppet".

Lot of catching up to do.

Had no power until xmas eve, busy time for me, the crashes of trees where absolutely unreal in our neighborhood and in my yard, started off by cutting a tree out of my neighbor's roof and patching his roof, might have been an easy task in summer time but on 1/2" of ice on a sloped roof, (New Olympic sport - Roof Luge!!)
Next mission was to grab generators, I have access to 3, took one generator to my boyz house, realized i could wire up to his furnace and did so,still gave him lots of power to run other stuff, so we decided could run two houses from one generator, picked his elderly neighbors 89 & 87, When the heat came on through there vents, this sweet little lady of 87 hugged and cried in my arms thanking me, I made sure my boyz watched over them.
Next generator went to my boyz friends Adam and Eve (that is there real names) Adam and Eve just came home last Saturday with a baby boy Jordan 5 days old,first time I met Jordan and his sweet little hands were ice cold, again helped his neighbors a family of 6, at this house i could not wire into the furnace, but wired up their gas fire place, they too were very grateful.
Last generator went to my place, fair size generator, managed to cover 3 houses, One being my neighbor Chris who really stepped up to the plate, he helped me with all of the above and helped paying for fuel for the generators, i think I opened his eyes on what needed to be done.


Of course I got the stupid flu bug Christmas morning, aahh humbug!!
didn't see much of Christmas or boxing day.

Karl - you are a hero not only in all those people you helped eyes, but in our eyes as well...and I know you won't be wanting accolations - but cheers to you!!!! Difficult times brings communities together....spmething we should remember in good times too.
