Had a busy afternoon. My newish neighbour 'interviewed' me to see if her baby & I are compatible. She needs someone to check in on her roommate whenever she has to work late & it looks like I got the job. So, starting next week, Elle & I get to spend some time together. Maybe then I can convince her to stop barking at me. Got a phone call from the transplant clinic. Turns out there's a trace of a bug in my system, so that might be the cause of the glitch (crossing fingers & paws here, since that means an overdose of antibiotics will do the trick). I go back for more testing Monday & hopefully this confirms it. Lastly, I finally finished making those cracker chip thingies. I started with this recipe then changed it quite a bit. My recipe used 1 cup shredded cheddar, 1 cup corn kernels (I used canned corn), 1.5 tablespoons chopped onion, & 1 teaspoon pureed fresh jalapeno. They taste a lot like Goldfish crackers. I think next time, I will use garlic instead of onion and up the jalapeno to give it more flavour. The only pain is that it takes about 14 hours to dehydrate them. At least the dehydrator is being used for something other than liver treats. Hmmm, I actually managed to accomplish quite a bit, considering I spent most of it in my PJs.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you & I am including extra special good wishes from Maggie. She likes the sounds of those liver treats. It is perfectly fine to stay in your PJ's all day. Sometimes that is just what we need in order to catch up on feeling better. It is nice of you to help out your newish neighbour.

Cute Killers ...are still killers.
Killer Kittie!
Cats Kill Billions Of Creatures Every Year.
There's trout season, bass season and in the fall deer and moose season.
When the heck the cat season start?
Americans own about 84 million of them. And of those, about 40 to 70 percent are allowed to go outside. And we estimate that about 50 to 80 percent of those are actually hunters."That means as many as 47 million pet cats are out there killing prey. Marra says they also looked at cats he calls "un-owned" — feral cats, barn cats and strays.Based on previous studies, he estimates there could be anywhere from 30 million to 80 million of those in the U.S., most of them out hunting.
The next challenge was to try to figure out how many birds and small animals all these cats were killing. They looked at all the available data, and when they finished crunching the numbers shocked by what they found.
Previous studies had suggested that cats kill about 500 million birds a year. We estimate that cats kill somewhere between 1.4 and 3.7 billion birds a year.

Good morning, everyone.
Happy Caturday!!! This is Quincy in his "why am I in trouble" pose.
He seems to have forgotten that he smacked Lily dog this morning for napping in the sunny spot on the carpet.
Another fun day of shivering in the summer sun. I certainly hope we'll be sunbathing and baking in late November.
If I can gather up enough energy, I'll have to clean my kitchen. For now, I think I'll just snuggle with the brats.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Good Morning on a day when you'll need a sweater,
I'm making homemade soup, so you can all feel better,
I hope you all like Onion Soup though the onions aren't really French,
But with my recipe modifications, your soupy desires I will quench,
I using Vegetable Stock cause my Beef Stock is running low,
& I don't know whether to use Sherry or should I go with Bordeaux?
About a pound of onions, simmering to bring out that familiar flavour,
I used a little blend of spices to make it a soup you can savour,
I must confess that I use slices of crusty French Bread to top it off,
Topped with Swiss, mozzarella & Gouda to chase away any cough,
In this house Onion Soup is one of the soups that we love to consume,
& it smells so good when it is simmering in a Augtober room.

A Well-Fed World
All beings tremble before violence. All fear death. All love life. See yourself in others. Then whom can you hurt? What harm can you do?
