evening Q sters,

well got the rodent into the wild blue yonder, heading west, following the sun. she left from hamilton airport. this is the first time that i've been to that airport. wow, what a difference from pearson. talk about a breeze getting to where you have to go. rodent texted me that she liked this airport better than pearson. i wasn't allowed to go past the security check point, even tho i promised to come back after the plane left. something to do with not having a boarding pass.
looking forward to some fun time tomorrow at Elmo's. have a great evening Q sters.

I too had no trouble with the University thing (Fly away little bird .....)
And, because I'm such a Mean Mom, she'll have no trouble with her own place.

Year 1 was residence; 2-4 in a house shared by 4 other girls. I paid tuition, books, stocked the fridge and paid 1/3 the rent for the year (daddy and kidlet were responsible for the other 2/3). You will notice something conspicuous by its absence - utilities/cable/etc. The deal was that anything they had control of, she had to pay for. She has now learned the value of donning a hoodie instead of cranking the heat; opening a window instead of turning on the air. She has, very much to my surprise, been dubbed Cleaning Queen by her friends because she couldn't stand the mess in the common areas (I would HATE to have seen that, knowing the threshold she had previously set for herself when at home). And, she does all her wash in cold water and, for the mostpart, uses a drying rack.

I guess it pays to be "mean".

you are brilliant Argo.... I wish you would have posted this 3 years ago.... (mind you, I hadn't even heard of SC 3 years ago....)

Our oldest kidlet is going into his 4th year (2nd year of student housing with 3 other guys) and our daughter is going into year 2 - renting a house with 6 other girls.... Although I do finance at work, hubby does it at home (and with the kids) and I believe utilities and cable are included in their monthly rent... but we're paying the full pop for both of them.... thank goodness for RESP's....

It's funny... my son's room is a disaster at home, but he does clean it up every once in a while... he complains that his room mates are slobs.... I don't think I want to visit their condo unexpectedly. My daughter is a neat freak in her room, but not in the "common areas" of our home.... She often leaves things on the floor outside her room.... I guess she is expecting "maid service" to come...?? (The "mom maid" does come, but she puts the mess back in her room" )

I'm sure she'll survive in her house, but I wonder how much she's going to complain.... oh well..... payback....

As much as I love to see them go, I miss them... The house is cleaner, there is more food in the fridge, the laundry is less (except when they come home), but I really do feel "empty".... It's weird having time to ourselves... As much as I enjoy the extra time by ourselves, I do look forward to week-ends when they both come home.....
