Afternoon, everyone.

bff's Dad passed away just after midnight. bff, her Mom & siblings and all but one of her nieces and nephews (he was away at a funeral for a friend of his ) were there at the end. They are all being very supportive to each other, especially the kids. I'm going home to my Mom (she lives near bff's Mom), so I can be close by if needed. Not sure when exactly I'm leaving (tomorrow or Wed) or coming home, so will be awol for a bit.

Today is my 13th anniversary of receiving a kidney & a pancreas, but I'm not much in the mood to celebrate. Maybe once I see bff & I know she's ok, my mood will lighten.

Thanks, everyone, for listening. It's nice to know there are so many nice folks out there who care.

Mott the Hoople Drummer Dale Griffin Dies at 67

Drummer Terence Dale “Buffin” Griffin, a founding member of Mott the Hoople, has passed away at the age of 67 following a struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Griffin’s passing has been confirmed by associates at Angel Air Records, who shared the news on Facebook with a post referring to him as “one of the nicest, friendly and talented men I have ever known” and saying he “died peacefully in his sleep” on Jan. 17.
“All he ever wanted was for his beloved Mott the Hoople to reform and it was his determination that achieved that very feat in 2009,” adds the post. “Sadly by then he was too ill to perform at the five sold out dates though he did join the band for encores.”
Griffin discussed his diagnosis in a Wales Online profile published in 2010, sharing his struggle with a series of frank quotes that included the painful admission that he’d occasionally felt abandoned by old friends who weren’t sure how to handle his deteriorating condition.
“Many old friends now avoid me as they do not know what to say, which is really hurtful,” said Griffin. “I just wish they would realize that, inside, I am still the same old Buffin I always was. We have to make people aware of this horrible disease. The main thing is to get the word out. There are still a lot of people who think that Alzheimer’s is just people getting old and that it’s no bother, no bad thing. But I think it is a big deal – when you live with it, it can be pretty grim at times.”

Glenn Frey, a founding member and guitarist of the Eagles, has died ... TMZ has learned.
We're told the cause of death was a combination of complications from rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia.
Frey had been battling intestinal issues for months and had surgery in November. We're told in the last few days his condition took a turn for the worse. He died in New York City.
Glenn co-wrote and sang most of the Eagles hits, including "Take It Easy," "Tequila Sunrise," "Lyin' Eyes," and "Heartache Tonight," to name a few. He also co-wrote "Hotel California" and "Desperado" with Don Henley and took home 6 Grammys with the band.
After the Eagles' 1980 breakup, Glenn launched a successful solo career, recording numerous hits ... most notably "The Heat Is On" and "You Belong to the City."
Glenn also got into acting, snagging a recurring role on "Miami Vice."
He reunited with the Eagles in '94 for their monster Hell Freezes Over tour and recorded music till the end, releasing what would be his fifth and final solo LP, "After Hours," in 2012.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer had been fighting intestinal issues for awhile but his condition relapsed before the holidays, forcing the Eagles to pull out of their Kennedy Center Honors appearance in December. At the time, the band said he needed major surgery that would require a lengthy recovery.
Glenn was 67. RIP.
