Thank you, my friends, thank you. Your positive thoughts, prayers and assortment of crossed body parts definitely helped ...... our new little guy is home.

The meet and greet was pushed back to 3 pm yesterday - in Tillsonburg. We stayed about 90 minutes but ran into some wicked weather on the way home. We will not soon forget our drive home with him.

We were waiting to meet him before coming up with a name. But I must say I was leaning toward keeping Ogee (pronounced Oh Gee - an Anglicized version of his home town Oujé). But, the kids at the foster house had trouble with the inflection and it morphed into Oggie. (Oggie Doggie? Shades of the carnie call at the CNE!) And, as weird as it is, we have decided to keep Oggie. - If anyone asks, I'll tell them I love Ogden Nash quips (which I do, but certainly not enough to so name my dog!!).

He's in the study right now, sleeping under my desk return. He looks cute and very much at home. And I am truly happy again.

When I figure out how to get the pics off my phone or Hubby's, I'll post some.

And, in the immortal words of his namesake: A door is what a dog is perpetually on the wrong side of.
Courage is not the absence of fear but acting in spite of it.

Went there in mid-90's and really enjoyed ourselves. Just north of there, on your map, is Todos Santos (All Saints) which is the actual church that was the inspiration for Hotel California (Got the t-shirt!) A little trivia for your trip.

    Funny - and appropriate.

I've been very diligent about his signals and sending him and/or taking him out in the backyard before anything can happen in the house. So far, so good. On our walk this afternoon, we also had success. And let me tell you, it's been a very long time since I've celebrated "pee" out in public! It felt very weird making such a public display (praise AND treats) for such a private act - but hey, if it works, I'll suffer the weird looks from the neighbourhood folks (obviously NOT dog-owners).

We had a terrific walk - he was distracted a couple times with the kids, but I don't think it will be too long before he walks "well" on his leash. His foster home had an 8 year old, a 4 year old and a 4 month old. I've decided that at least one of our walks each day will co-incide with school letting out to keep him used to rugrats. Today, he was a proper gentleman, sitting down each time someone wanted to pat him or play with him. I plan to take advantage of my current unemployed status and keep up his "kid" socialization as long as possible.
