I've ALWAYS been a Mario Brother's fan
My Bro has a Wii and I'm an addict. The Sports Resort is awesome. It's competitive, lots of stuff and games AND you get a workout even if you don't want to LOL.
BTW... You'll discover muscles you forgot you had lol, you may want to stretch a little at first.

I've rented tons of games from the library, so I know of a few. lol
My favorite Wii games are Super Mario Bros. and Mario Party 8. I also like Animal Crossing but it's only a 1 person game. Monopoly is also pretty good.
I'm not a big fan of most of the sports ones, I only like the bowling and boxing. lol

The best thing to do is always rent or borrow from the library first before committing to buying a game. I have saved so much money doing this as either I can finish a game in one week and I find out the game has no replay value after it is completed. The lego games are fun. Lego batman and star wars.
Mario Party, Super Mario Bros, EA PLayground, Zelda, Supre Mario Galaxy (but keep in mind it gave me motion sickness due to the constant change of camera angles). Sport Resort is fun. Mario Kart has tons of replay value and you can play online.
I recently bought my first "adult" game for the Wii. Call of Duty Modern Warfare. It is actully pretty decent and fun on the Wii. Also can be played on line.

thanks for the suggestions, as far as my local library i think its a lil behind other librarys... we are lucky to have a dvds instead of vhs... so i highly doubt there is Wii games...
i did get Wii sports with the console, and my arms are sore today

Wii Sports
Mario Galaxy
Mario Party
Wii Fit
They are all pretty fun. Wii Fit actually can get intense if you work at it.

I would follow the recommendation of others and see if you can't rent or borrow a game before purchasing it. I had no clue what party games were, so I bought super mario party 8, boy can I tell you its boring playing alone. I'm now stuck with a game that I used once.
My favorites : mario galaxy (1 player, but another can help out)& mario bros 3 (1 player, up to 4 in simultaneous play)
Mario galaxy 2 is due out in a few weeks, I'm sure its going to be awesome
But I'm biased, I've been a mario junkie since its inception on the original nintendo
My Queen passed out from pure bliss thanks to her secret Santa. Bless you kind angel

If your local library doesn't carry Wii games you could always check out Blockbuster/Jumbo Video/Rogers (or whatever video store you have).
Renting them once will let you see if you like them, no sense buying a game that you wont play (especially since they are so expensive).
Or you could always buy used off somewhere like Kijiji. I bought Mario Party 8 that way, I think I paid $25 for it and it's something like $49.99 in the stores still.
