It seems to me that in past years my sister and a friend both told me that if you are a member of the library in Toronto they have a limited number of free passes you can borrow for attractions like the zoo, museums etc. Check with your local library to see if this program is still available.

Get a big box to make an outdoor fort!! ~~ We just got a new sectional and the huge box is in the backyard it has kept the kids happy and entertained for days!! First it was an aquarium and they coloured all over the inside, recently it has been their secret fort! So much fun!

In Toronto you can take them to High Park which is easy on the subway or you can park there for free. They have a little zoo which is free, a playground, lots of green space and since it's free if you're kids get tired etc, you didn't spend anything to go.
