We have no A/C Not in our house or our van. I am totally fine with it as long as it stays 25 C or below lol. But the few days were it has been 27 or 29 or even hotter, yuck. We just bought another tower fan though, so now we have two. During the day they are both on in our living room since that is were we spend most of our time, at night one stays on all night in our bedroom and one in one of the kid's rooms. Hopefully it won't raise our hydro bill too much.

That hot day last week and I turned it on again yesterday. If things get reasonable again tomorrow, I'll shut it off.
I prefer to have the windows open and a couple of fans running but if it's terrible, we put on the A/C. Both my babies sleep on plastic mattresses. That can't be any fun in a heatwave.

I want to add that not using your A/C in the car isn't necessarily saving fuel. Yes, A/C uses extra gas, but having the windows open creates a lot of drag and uses more fuel too. I think some crazy math guys calculated that in some cases you use more fuel with the windows open than with A/C.

I have used it in the car. We don't have a unit for our house.
For those of you who want an easy and cheap way to cool down your house at night, get two fans that are called box fans. Put one facing outwards in a window sucking the air in the house outside, and another in a window facing inwards pulling the night air into the house. It works so well.
You can pick up box fans at canadian tire and walmart for under $40. My last one lasted 6 years. It is great for apartments where you aren't allowed to have air conditioners.Try out the maven box by julep And code FREEFB, and get your box for one cent:

We put ours on 2 weeks ago, only because the upstairs temperature was hovering around 32. Now it's 27, but very cool downstairs :D

Oh, yes! Our central A/C is on as soon as it gets remotely warm! I am heat intolerant, so we keep the house at 20C all year round. I start using the A/C in the car pretty much as soon as the snow melts
