I have this bed with the matching side tables. i need 2 wardrobes along one long wall across from the bed. i love anything mid century modern, but i can't find anything affordable that i can make fit with the style.

now, IKEA has their midnight madness tonight and have the HEMNES grey wardrobe on for $149. can't bet the price! it is a little too country looking for me though. to most ppl maybe not, but it is not really what i would pick as my first choice. i have to put wants aside though, and maybe just address the needs this time i have an idea to change the knobs to make it more palatable. i think chrome/brushed chrome will make it too girly/glam/ewwww. i love these particular knobs for my kitchen, but i think they will work against me in the bedroom. if i can find the same shape in wood and stain them medium brown, i think it might make the wardrobe more palatable. even a mushroom knob in stained wood might work.

anyone who understands mid-mod please help!! i think i'm pushing it with these wardrobes, but sometimes a girl's gotta do what she's gotta do

really i think i need to just suck it up and realize i will never have the room of my dreams, and get on with making my home functional!

since i need the 2 wardrobes, would it be ok to have the dresser nested between the 2 wardrobes? i have a long wall.

    pics below!!

    this is my bed

    with matching low side tables

    i need 2 wardrobes

should i put this dresser between 2 wardrobes, is that overkill??

or the MALM dresser in between the HEMNES wardrobes to tie in with the bed??

I don't think these will work, but i love the shape!!

maybe staining some wood ones with a stain to match the bed will do the trick???

i love these ones on ebay, the color and patina are awesome, and if they had 12 instead of 6, i think i'd get them

    ok i thought about it.

    (like anyone cares haha)

i'm really not into atomic. i love scandinavian, warm cozy mid century style, not ultra sleek new modern.

this combo is sort of cottage scandinavian with the wardrobes.

    i think i get it.

ok just in case anyone was wondering, i DO NOT have a beautifully decorated home.

the living room is a hot mess of toys.
    the kitchen is chaos
my son's bedroom is hubby's bedroom right now.
the master bedroom is a queen size bed that my 2 year old mainly uses (i sleep in what should be his room, in our old double bed), an unused crib, a clothes drying rack (i have no dryer) and an ironing able.
    my daughter's room is huge, and is a craft-obsessed 8 yr old's den-o-craziness.

the bathroom (yes we only have one) is schizophrenic.

i just want to have something nice that will make me happy. not too much to ask for! *cry*

We only had one bathroom for the 6 of us until 4 years ago. Had to sacrifice a small room downstairs.

Well sometimes it's safer on the sidelines. Now go do something less confusing like sorting out the June 30th coupons like I am doing.

My home is mostly mid century modern too. Getting there slowly a piece at a time from yard sales and second hand stores. I have some nice scandinavian pieces but also love the atomic ones and throw in a few for accents. I really like the second dresser picture but the first one does go with the wardrobes. New knobs will make the difference for sure. I wish you lived here! None of my friends or family really "get" my thing for midcentury. Plus I have a ton of pieces in my basement that are going to be refinished. Dressers, tables, chairs, etc. You'd have a ball in my basement! Plus I have a couple boxes of old knobs and drawer pulls. I buy them when I find them cheap for when I redo pieces that need new ones.

we have that set.. the bed...night tables in deep brown. looks so good.. we have the dressers to match.. the ones with the two smaller drawers on the top.. however as we don't have alot of room in the room.. we have our dressers in our closet.. works for us.. (we also bought the glass covers for the dresser)
we bought a shelf that covers one wall for pics. candless.
and behind our bed is painted a 'frame' of chocolate brown. the rest of the walls are white. the left wall is a window. the right is a set of brown white matted frames with flower pics.. it just looks great.. if you have the room.. i'd do the smaller wider one... and either knob works.. maybe bring in some accents to play up those colors. have fun.. let us know how it goes.
