    I've seen them do this, and asked, they are told to write down on the coupon, the retail dollar amount being sold for then add the tax into it(if applicable)then take the total of the two and deduct that amount from your bill....eg Cottonelle fresh wipes fpc 2.99 + 0.36 = 3.35. So 3.35 is supposed to come off your bill as vendor coupon.

    when ever I have free product coupons I process them as a separate order that saves all confusion on everyones part.

    Buy one get one free too. It is easier that way.

    My WM will inc taxes if you do the item first or as a separate transaction so they can press the subtotal button to get the full amount. They dont keep calculators by the cash to work it out so its that way or you pay taxes.
