I Made this mini cake for my 4 year old son.
He was outside looking for rainbows after the rain, but we couldn't find one.
So I made one he could eat. He was AMAZED.

Thanks for the compliments
It was sooo great to see his reaction. At 4 they believe everything and I had to reassure him that he could eat it. He was worried if he did then there would be no more rainbows for anyone else.
LOL
God I love him
What I did was make a vanilla batter and sectioned into 6 bowls. I added the food coloring red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.
I then took a teaspoon (it was a mini cake. the size of a chicken pot pie) or red covered the whole bottom of the pan. I did added a teaspoon or orange in the center of the red and continued the same way with all the colors but I put a little less per color. I did it this way so when you cut it you get a bit of every color.
I will be making a video with the next batch. I will let you know the link.

That's a pretty one! I've been making them for years, lots of fun coming up with different combinations.
Try a checkerboard one, too - you make that one with three layers, alternating two colours - e.g. for two you start chocolate on the outside, then alternate vanilla, then choc circle - and for the third start with vanilla on the outside, then go choc, then vanilla.
Then stack them so the different one is in the middle, then when you cut into it, it's like a checkerboard.

There are special pans, or dividers, you can buy - but it's fun when the colours run together a bit, too. I've done chocolate and vanilla - but also other cool colours. Did blue and white for a baby shower.
