I've been inspired by those on here who regularly donate to local women's shelters. Too late now to get baskets together for Easter but I'd like to try for Mother's Day. I've tried looking up women's shelters in the phone book but wasn't able to find much. If anyone knows of contact information to any please send me a PM, even it's just for a drop off spot.

There is a listing there of local phone numbers for some Ottawa shelters
I am sure a quick phone call to any of them could tell you where to drop off donations.
They have a wish list at the Interval House Ottawa website
Clock Radios
Journals
School supplies
Back Packs
Crib Sheets
Baby Monitors
Single Sheet Sets
Basic Tool Sets
Canadian Tire Money
Camp spots

I researched one in the Ottawa area (can't remember the name) but they don't accept "gift baskets" like the ones seen on the brags, i think because most of these ones are much larger than what like, the one woman donates too (I believe it's a smaller one, designed a little differently than the larger shelters). But they'll always take clothing, I've donated bras that it turns out I have severe allegeries too (so barely used, but can't return) and I read that they really like travel size items, because they're easier to hand out.

The ones here just have PO Boxes to drop off at or the local library so you are limited by the space they have to store donations too, mine doesn't take gift baskets either but the retirement centre where I take my cats are happy to take them for the residents who don't have relatives visiting.
Although last time we brought gifts, one fairly well to do woman who always has visitors when I am there (and I go at random times) complained she doesn't ever get one! So now I just give them to the staff to RAOK when I am not there. Its bad enough that they fight over the cats
