How is it delivered? If in a large mailbox with multiple people, then leave it. If mailed directly to your home, get a neighbour to collect.

We always just give a neighbour our key - so when they pick up their mail they pick up ours as well

I would recommend having your mail held - but start it a few days before you leave as it takes time to process ... also have someone check your mailbox every few days, as some mail may get through the temporary hold.
... I'm earning $5-25 Amazon.ca gift cards EVERY month, are you?
P.S. ... starting to hunt for ShoppingChannel GC's with no minimum purchase ...

Even if its a large mailbox with multiple people ( community mail box with individual keys ) ..you will be surprised how quickly that box fills up ..especially with all the junk mail , ads , brochures etc that CP delivers .
http://www.canadapost.ca/cpo/mc/pers...d=murl09004606
If the box is full irrespective of whether you have a key to it or not ..CP will generally just return the mail to the sender or in worse case scenario just throw it away .
I live in a house ..& we have one of those super mail boxes for about 36 people ( houses ) who live on my street ..I have actually seen mail on the ground near the super mail box
as some of the residents are too lazy to empty their box ..as you have to walk from your house to that super mail box ( about 75 metres ) & they don't even want to do that
I generally find that if I don't empty my mail box every 3 days or so it gets full ..90 % of which is junk mail

I saw somebody say the junkmail takes up 90%. If you want to have more room for mail and freebies tape a note that says "no junkmail pls" to your mailbox. My maillady said that is okay to do, but put it on the inside as they can not read it on the outside as the whole mailbox door opens at one.

Yes there is something called the Red Dot Campaign - Say No To Junk Mail
http://www.reddotcampaign.ca/
Why the Red Dot Campaign?
The Red Dot Campaign is a privately funded social marketing venture. Paper is precious. Vast amounts of trees, electricity, water and fossil fuels are used in the production and distribution of paper-based advertising. And yet the industry standard is a 2% response rate! That means 98% of these resources are wasted! We say its time advertisers join the 21st century and adopt data-driven print technologies, electronic communications and social marketing. The Red Dot Community will help inspire this change.
Step 1. Raise Awareness about Canada Post’s Consumer Choice OptionWe applaud Canada Post’s eco-friendly Consumer Choice option that reduces waste and clutter. All you need to do is put a “No Admail” or “No Junk Mail” sign on your mailbox. * The Consumer Choice database is decremented for each person opting out, and advertisers reduce their print quantities accordingly. Refer to Canada Post's website for more details.* Note: This opt-out policy varies by letter carrier and region in Canada. If your “No Admail” sign is ignored, call 1-866-607-6301. Some municipal notices will also be stopped. Again this varies by letter carrier and region. See FAQ's.
Step 2. Encourage other distributors to follow Canada Post’s leadershipLets urge community newspapers, flyer distributors and phone book companies to announce their opt-out protocol, reduce their subscriber base accordingly and be more mindful of waste and overages in their distribution process.
Step 3. Encourage advertisers to reduce unaddressed print advertisingLet’s urge advertisers to state their commitment to reducing flyers, through effective targeting, and adopting subscription-based advertising and online technologies. Canadian Tire is leading the way by moving its catalogue online.Check back frequently for more updates about the Red Dot Campaign.
