Oh no, you were not rude, don't worry. I hear where you are coming from.
I am sort of getting this patience thing down. I get my fill by tading coupons and stuff until I can figure out what is going with how I am going to work things in the stores. Hopefully people don't get snippy with me when I do get the courage and know-how to get in there.

I lived in KS for 3 years, and there are 3 main differences between here (another Ontario voice chipping in!):
1. They get more coupons. I would average $30-$75 in coupons just on the inserts that came in the newspapers
2. A lot of stores 'double' coupons...your $0.50 coupon is now worth $1
3. They can stack...you are buying an item the costs $5...you have 5 $1 coupons...you can use all 5 on the one item.
I will concur with the others...take all the coupons you can...SC, save.ca, etc...the coupons you don't use...trade with other for coupons you do use. Wait for sales...and watch for in-store coupons, and products that have a coupon inside the box. I have only purchased cereal that was on sale, I had a coupon for, and had FPC's printed inside since the beginning of the year.
It can be done! I save a minimum of 20% off my bill, just in coupons, that is not including the discount cause the items are on sale.

They would have to be 5 different $1.00 off coupons, no?

Ease into it & the deals will come...Build a stash of coupons from the flyers, save.ca, websaver.ca etc & have them ready for the sales. It doesn't take long to build a nice stockpile.

Just saw this thread & has some great tips for newbies!

Thanks for all the advice guys! I really do appreciate it! I have a good pile of coupons right now, they are all sorted by letter, hopefully that will help. I am still nervous about going in the stores and getting those rude people in line, I think that is what I am most nervous about when I eventually do get out there. Rude people...
