The use of "LOL"

LOL LOL LOL , yes I'm laughing out loud!!! This site cracks me up most of the time with all the dancing bananas & funny pics (thanks to Patty & others!) Its a joy to come here everyday & have a good laugh!!

Well sometimes i use LOL when its more of a giggle...or even just a titter.
What irritates me is someone saying something and then sticking on the end so that what they wrote doesn't sound critical ...Guess what people , it still does!!

I'm lol (but quietly 'cause evryone is sleeping) after looking at all the pics!!
I use the term when I think something is funny. I try to use the other smilies to express how I feel too. There needs to be a sarcastic smiley but then using it would kinda defeat the purpose of sarcasm(?) Whether you're in person on on the computer some people get it and some don't. But there is funny sarcasm and nasty sarcasm.

I admit to using LOL way too often when I'm not actually laughing but I DO think something is funny! When I do actually laugh I'll type something like omg lmao! It's funny, my best friend always bugs me about the day I was texting her and I said "omg I literally lol'd"!!

I'm also guilty of using it to sound less harsh . Never on here though!!! I tend to use it in texts because I'm not a mean person by nature and I like to cushion the blow a little bit. I have a friend who is perpetually late so I text her "where the heck are you? lol"... it makes it seem not so nasty

Totally overused, usually overstated and extremely annoying. I have heard people use it in a sentence when speaking to me! That is ridiculous.

Oi, I just woke up the baby I was LOLing so loudly. I just saw this show on TMN called Curb Your Enthusiasm (while waiting for True Blood to come back on - OH ERIC AND SOOKIE ARE KISSING!! YAY YAY YAY!!) and there was a woman who kept saying LOL instead of laughing when she found something funny. (AND YAY FOR KISSING!!)

I use 'lol' quite a bit here, I find a lot things funny... and I am smiling, chuckling, giggling. What can I say, feels good.
