I have had calls about my computer, about credit cards and trips ,,any number of times I don't talk to them. Someone called three or four times the same day I asked if it was another scam, he never answered just hung up. Now when I know that it's a call like that I hang up.
These are crazy. Unfortunately there are people who get taken in.
It's getting so that I don't even give legitimate telemarketers the time of day. We're on the do not call list, and we rarely answer our phone these days, honestly sometimes I wonder why we have it!?!
Unfortunately I know someone that fell for a scam. She is a senior, and widowed. She answered an email and then it turned into phone calls. It was something about a church, and she should send a check and they would wire her money back. She got taken for 8000 total, a little bit at a time. They were calling her like they knew her and played on the fact that she was very religous. Her SIL convinced her to go with all the info to the cops, but they said sorry, cant help ya!
Air miles gave my husband a number to call if you get fraudulent/scam phone calls. I haven't called it yet but it's 1-888-495-8501. I searched for the number and it's on the Canadian Government site so it's legit.

it was a over sea number about my "cell phone number"
winning $50,000 !
ha! i knew it was a sacam .. hung up right away..
but i know this happened to a frind of mine...
and she was so conviniced that the guy told her to go the the western union
and he even gave sum number i guess where the money was "suppose" to transfer from.... and when my friend got there.. they were like "first make a $500 payment ( i guess sum transfer fee " then we will give u the $50,000
wtf!!!! y not just cut it off the $50,000
no duh! thats when she figured out it was a scam!
but be care full ppllll they can we veryyyyyyyyyy convincing!!!

I got the windows call too! Told them my computer is perfectly fine and not to call back and no more calls since.
A while ago I had another telephone scammer where a guy named "Martin" said he was calling on behalf of the Canadian national do not call list. He said that in order to ensure I was on the list I would get a pin number from another caller and then he would call me back to ask for the pin number. He didn't even give me a chance to reply before hanging up. As soon as he hung up I got another call where an automated voice said something like "your craigslist password is ___" and then hung up. A few minutes later "Martin" called back asking for the pin number. I tried to get some information out of him asking why did the other call mention craigslist. He then told me that the canadian do no call list works with craigslist to monitor calls or something along those lines (his english was very bad). I then told him I knew that he was lying and to not call me back again and he just hung up.
Both these showed up as private number on my caller ID..
I got the computer call too when I said that I wanted to find out about them first and asked for his number he gave it to me but it was different than what they phoned when I called them on it he hung up.
I was getting these calls on my direct line at work!--Anout 3 months ago, I started asking if they understood I was a inspector for the Canadian International Police Agency ( I just made it up!) and suddenly --no calls -- it has been almost 2 months now! No calls! I am just hoping they are not taking the summer off!

We may start getting more of these calls with incorrect telephone numbers displayed on your call display, as Canada AM was explaining something else and gave the website name of the service that allows you to 'use' a fake telephone # when calling anyone--that way they do not get your real telephone #
many of these people are paid commission so I like to waste their time and let them think that they have me believe in what they are trying to scam me with then I tell them to hold on and I keep them on hold until they decide to cut off or I ask for their name and phone number to call them back hehe! or start a stupid conversation with them just to waste their time :excited:
I used to receive so many calls that I added my name to the national Do Not Call List. I still get occasional calls but my rule is, if the call display shows an 800 number or something that couldn't possibly be a legitimate call, I just don't answer it. If they call more than once, I will tell them to take me off their list. I don't even let them get past the first sentence in their script. Telemarketers and scammers drive me insane. Of course legitimate charities are an exception but these days it is hard to know for sure. It's sad really.
