WOW everyone! It seem s like so many scammers these days I am getting sad:( If anyone doesn't mind posting what kind of numbers do the telemarketers call with? Everyday I get annoying telemarketers numbers I cannot recognize. Are they toll free numbers? Many times I get numbers that are long distance.
Usually, if I don't recognize the number on caller ID, I let the machine pick it up for me. If it is legit, they will leave a message, if not, oh well.
im with Georgia on this one 100%~!
I got the Windows one last week and told them I didn't have a puter. That throws them.."are you sure???" "Yes" hang up.
This week I asked what name the puter was registered under and when they couldn't tell me, I called myself Zebadee Zoey Zumblemaker.with accents and umluts....and hung up laughing
Not sure what I'm going to do next...Ma~a Le-a Bacon sounds good...
Just wanted to share my experience 2 days ago. I got a call from a private person with a private number, i usually answer this call because some of my friends and relatives are on private, but to my surprise it's the computer scammer. The guy with a thick indian accent wants me to open up my computer since he can ses a lot of viruses on my PC registering on their system. Good thing i already read this thread a few times and thanks to my fellow SC who shares their experience here. So I told the guy I am not interested but of course he kept on insisting and as if i didnt said my lack of interest. So the last time i told him i dont want to, i hang up immediately. So to my fellow SCs always beware because this scam is still around the corner
Laughing so hard here ...
I got scammed ones by Amazon Travel Club, thinking that I won a trip for 2 to Florida ... apparently it was a time share thing ... Credit card was charged within minutes from the phone call .. while they said they wouldn't until the trip was made.
(they got my address from the Womens Show in Toronto were I filled out a ballot for something completely different)
You can only fool someone ones huh, never giving out credit card over the phone again. Felt so stupid!
I've been getting a lot of calls too lately.
One super annoying one from "John Shriebas office". Whatever that is. Has anyone else heard of that?
And we got three strange ones in a row the other day about the air quality in our area.
Thanks for info :)
Last week I got 2 phone calls about Windows computer (one is from india too)
I said I don't have computer ....guest what !!! she hung up the phone lol.....
Don't answer calls from Mildred E Evans. #780-356-3646
This is an auto dialed # for credit card reduction services.
I have got the Airmiles call about 3 times now already............every time I hang up as soon as the auto message starts as I suspected it to be a scam right from the start. As our phone number is not listed, so I think the computer guys have not gotten to us yet.
I also recieved the message for the computer scam I think his name was Jerry too lol, I usually dont answer the phone for strange long distance call but I was expecting a call long distance and answered it the guy threw me off gaurd but only for a second I then questioned him about who he really was and he hung up. I feel sorry for the innocent people who are so computer nieve that they actually get taken by these crooks.
Thanks for posting this :)
