Thread: How much do you pay for milk?
-
Sun, Aug 7th, 2011, 03:13 PM #1
I'm wondering where everyone buys their milk and how much they are paying.
I currently pay $4.19 at a local giant tiger for 4L of skim milk. I'm always happy to hear about a new shoppers drug mart opening because I know they'll sell their milk for $3.89 for about a month.
Where do you buy your milk and how much do you pay?

In Gatineau - and so i presume the rest of Quebec - 4l of 1% has just gone up to 5,72$.
I should also have voted for Soy - as i do buy that too.
I usually buy it at 3/5$ plus use coupons..have at times even paid around 25c for some.Last edited by kazm-l; Sun, Aug 7th, 2011 at 03:23 PM.

4L of skim is $4.29 at SDM. Seems to be about the best price. Almond milk is anywhere from $2.29 -$3.99 a litre but I watch for it when it goes on sale at Natures Fare for $1.99.

I think our shoppers is now $4.19 for 4l of 2% - everywhere went up in price and they are still the cheapest. Shoppers does have milk sales on occasion at least - sometimes I don't see it in the flyer but it's on sale in the store I frequent.
Collecting Campbell's soup labels for our school RAKs greatly appreciated.
Using WagJag for great deals!

I pay about $5.50 for homogenized milk if I buy Beatrice, but if I buy Natrel or Lactantia its almost $1 more for 4L.
2% is about $4.20 a bag for Beatrice and $1 more for the Natrel and Lactantia.
Food Basics often has a price squeeze on Natrel and Lactantia though and put all the %'s on for the same price usually $4.99. They just took off the Lactantia price squeeze though, so I don't save as much with my coupons anymore

I pay $4.19 at Canadian Tire for 2% and use my CT money from the previous week to drop that 5 or 10 cents more.
I just got back from a vacation in PEI and 4l there was $6.79. A ten lb bag of PEI potatoes was $6.99! Pass!!
My brother in Saskatchewan pays over $6 for milk as well.Last edited by frugalmom2; Sun, Aug 7th, 2011 at 09:00 PM.

I do most of my shopping at walmart now (one stop shop) and CT always has it for 4.19 so I just PM at walmart. If I cant get to walmart I used to always buy at macs but thier price went up recently to 4.59 so I only go there when I have to run out for milk at the last minute
A little goes a long way!

The minimum price for milk (mandated by the gov't) here is 5.81$ for 4L of 2%. I buy ours at Pharmaprix (SDM) during the 20x points events. Milk is also always 5x bonus points as well. So we stock up and freeze during the BP events and, we stock up and freeze during the bonus redemption days. I figure we get about 3 bags free for every 10 we buy.

SDM is the cheapest I have found 2% Neilson milk. When it's on sale, even better. And don't forget the Optimum points...
