Scer's that know me are aware I am a nurse, and with the profession comes the words of encouragement and "everything with be alright" speech.
Well, I find it difficult to deal with what we are going through.
I recently had some personal health issues, but have pushed them aside so I can once again step up to the plate and be the "strong one."
Bottom line, Willy's heart is poofed. I guess all the treatments for his kidney condition have chewed up his heart and we have come to the realization that one of the heart chambers is not working to it's fullest capacity and overworking the rest of his heart. He is not working (obviously) and always tired. I find I need the keep the eagle eye on this boy because he wants to do stuff, but can't.
He (we) have made the decision that surgery is inevitable, and are awaiting a surgery date.
Who knows how long this will take? We know how the health care system works. It would take another heart attack before he gets bumped up the priority list.
I was hesitant in posting this, but I feel I need your thoughts and prayers and the understanding why I have not been around. This thread is currently associated with: GuessLast edited by koala; Sun, May 29th, 2011 at 08:44 PM.

Hello koala.
I did not know that you were a nurse.
At least you have a "family" of health care providers who will be there for you as you and your family are going through this. Your "family" will make sure you get the best. I hope this is something you can see as a positive.
As a nurse, you already know that you need to take care of yourself, so that you can care for your family at this time.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Thank you for sharing your difficult time with us.
Blessings.

It's comforting knowing I have a support network out there. Thank you.
Thanks Tara. I know you are going through a lot yourself, and I appreciate the time you are taking to think of others.
On a positive note, with Willy at home, and taking it easy, I took the opportunity to buy him a better camera. He takes amazing pictures, so I am hoping this will keep him occupied. I feel this is therapeutic and an investment. It's an excuse to go for casual walks and make him feel better about himself.

Oh, dear, Koala....I pray that Willy receives the care he needs in short order and that he's safely on the road to recovery. I know how helpless you feel...and how vulnerable..my hubby had a valve replacement a few years ago...the fear is absolutely tangible.
Prayers and blessings on their way to you both...
