I looked out the DDR. From what I've heard, they give you a mat, but it doesn't actually record any of you steps, so there's no scoring.

The DDR mat doesn't interface with the TV - they call it "non-competitve", so I guess its ok for younger kids but I don't think kids who like the real version would like it very much...

i gave in and ordered the book, too.
the maple syrup has some fans in amazon, interesting info on how
the second tapping of the maples, is the best - called grade b -
like the one offered, i think.
